Alin Sherin Abraham, a 10-month-old baby girl from Kerala has become the state's youngest organ donor. As per a report by On Manorama, her organs will give new life to four people.
The organ donation process was done through the government system K-SOTTO. As per the media report, "Alin’s heart valve was sent to Sree Chitra Institute in Thiruvananthapuram, her liver to KIMS Hospital, and her kidneys to Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College. Her eyes will also be donated to the Eye Bank."
"Both kidneys will be transplanted into a 10-year-old girl undergoing treatment at the Government Medical College, while a six-month-old girl from Thiruvananthapuram will receive the donated liver," the report added.
What happened to Alin?
Alin suffered serious injuries in a road accident that happened in Kottayam on February 5 when the car she was travelling collided with another vehicle. She was declared brain-dead.
Alin, the daughter of Arun Abraham, and Sherin Ann John was from Mallappally in Pathanamthitta.
Alin may have been Kerala’s youngest organ donor, but her story is much more than a record. It’s a reminder of humanity. Of courage. Of love that chooses to give, even in the darkest hour. And maybe, just maybe, her story will inspire more families to have that difficult conversation, and save many more lives.
