The royals may live a lavish life, may have answers to all their problems, even get whatever they lay their eyes on, but when it comes to parenting, there is absolutely nothing that can save them from the challenges and struggles.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are parents of three

On 29 April 2011, Prince William and Kate Middleton took their vows and became husband and wife. On July 22, 2013, the Duke and Duchess welcomed their first child, Prince George, who is currently third in line for the British throne. Next, they became parents to the charming little Princess, Charlotte. Finally, Prince Louis is currently the youngest of the three children. All five of them are close-knitted and often seen together at events and family gatherings.

Kate Middleton opens up about pregnancy challenges

As beautiful as pregnancies may be, it can be as challenging and difficult to handle. Kate Middleton has been quite open about her experiences with pregnancies. In a podcast interview, she reveals that she suffered from hyperemesis, a condition that can lead to severe nausea and vomiting. She said, “It was through hyperemesis that I really realised the power of the mind over the body because I really had to try everything and everything to try and help me through it."

“I didn’t even ask him about it, but it was just something I wanted to do for myself. I saw the power of it really, the meditation and the deep breathing and things like that - that they teach you in hypnobirthing - when I was really sick and actually I realised that this was something I could take control of, I suppose, during labour,” she went on to say.

“It was hugely powerful and because it had been so bad during pregnancy, I actually really quite liked labour,” she added.

She elaborates on 'mom guilt'

On the same podcast, the Duchess spoke of 'mom guilt', which is common amongst women and just doesn't seem to go away. According to her, anyone who doesn't feel it "is actually lying." Being a mother can be taxing and no matter how hard you try, there will be instances where you feel you haven't done enough. However, it is important to remember that no one can be perfect and that making mistakes is how we learn to deal with difficult situations.

Homeschooling can be exhausting

As commoners, we probably weren't used to concepts like homeschooling. But surely, the pandemic changed that for us and we have been constantly monitoring our children's academic work at home.

In a video chat, the Duchess gets candid about her struggles with homeschooling her kids. While talking to a group of parents, she calls it "exhausting".

"As parents, we have day-to-day elements of being a parent, but, I suppose, during lockdown we've had to take on additional roles that others in our community and lives would have helped us with," she added.

Juggling work and parenting

There's no doubt that the royals have a lot on their hands. But apart from their royal duties, they have to look after their kids too.

Reportedly, when Prince George was born, the Duke and the Duchess of Cambridge said 'no' to any outside help. They looked after their kid on their own without a nanny or a helper. However, over time, they started having a hard time maintaining a work-life balance. So allegedly, Kate Middleton finally addressed her concerns and spoke to the Queen, following which they got the help they needed.

That said, while parents may feel embarrassed or shy away from asking for some external help, it is extremely important if you have to juggle between your work and parenting.
