These movies have touched upon even the thinnest string of emotions in child-parent relationship

Be it Amitabh Bachchan in Baghban or Deepika Padukone in Piku, there are several movies which have portrayed parenthood incredibly.

Over the years, these movies have always shown us those aspects of parenthood and parent child relationship which we are unaware of sometimes.

These movies are used as references and have proved to stay alive and germane among viewers even decades later.

Masoom

This 1983 movie, which means the innocent, was directed by Shekhar Kapur. It was adapted from Man, Woman and Child.

Masoom is about Devendra Kumar's family life, played by Naseeruddin Shah, which was disturbed when he brought home Rahul, a young boy who was his illegitimate child too. The movie revolves around the motherhood of Indu, played by Shabana Azmi, how she reacts to her husband's infidelity, her reluctance towards Rahul and how later she has a change of heart.

Masoom remains one of the best movies till date as the movie says parenthood is not something one gets only through birth.

3/8

Baghban

The 2003 movie Baghban tops the list of the best movies on parenthood. Baghban means gardener.

The movie is about how parents are misunderstood, left to themselves and not taken care of after kids move out of the house. The movie sheds light on the complications in a family once the kids start having their own family and how parents are ignored the most in due course of time.

The movie became the voice of thousands and thousands of parents who are left alone and have nobody to take care of them.

4/8

Do Dooni Chaar

Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh starrer Do Dooni Chaar is an amazing movie on family life and parenthood.

Do not miss to notice Mr Duggal's red file in which he has the budget of the entire house. In the movie we see an active homemaker Mrs Duggal whose lunch box menu depends on what day of the month it is. Chicken curry is a celebration in the family.

5/8

We Are Family

2010 movie, We Are Family, is about a family which is on the edge of getting broken and then revives after another person walks in.

The movie is about embracing parenthood even when you are not the biological parent of the kids. It is about valuing relationships and making a lifetime commitment to it.

In the movie Kajol plays mom to three kids; Arjun Rampal plays the divorced husband and doting father while Kareena Kapoor Khan plays the lover and later wife of Arjun.

6/8

Paa

Sometimes parenthood is all about the determination of a single parent and Paa is an example of that.

In Paa, Vidya Balan plays mother to Amitabh Bachchan's character Auro who suffers from Progeria.

The movie revolves around the lives of Vidya, Auro and the grandmother. In the movie we also see how Auro brings back his mom and dad together, reducing the tension between them. The movie shows how despite years of separation and concealing each other's identity a family unites in an emotional manner before Auro bids adieu to the world.

7/8

Piku

An architect daughter and her "hypochondriac" father make an amazing duo in Piku. The 2015 movie directed by Shoojit Sircar was based on 1980 Bengali-language short film, Pikoo by Satyajit Ray.

The movie revolves around Bhashkor's love for his daughter Piku, and Piku's fierce protectiveness for her father despite his eccentricities. This might be the rarest time when viewers saw such an amazing father-daughter duo on screen.

A 70 year old widowed father and a 30 year old daughter living together adjusting to each other's habits, complaints and what not!

8/8

Salaam Venky

This 2022 movie directed by Revathi, has Kajol and Vishal Jethwa in lead roles.

This movie rests on the shoulder of Kajol who makes sure her son who is suffering from Duchenne muscular dystrophy lives his life to the fullest.

In the movie we see a determined mother who does not stop despite repeated failure.
