Arshad and Maria's Portuguese villa Casazengoa

Actor Arshad Warsi and former VJ Maria Goretti’s 150-year-old picturesque Portuguese villa in the Saligao village of North Goa is an emblem of restoration done with love. From sunlit spaces to vintage charm

Casa Zen, the villa, carries a soft and warm blanket of cozy neutral colours that reflects touches of old-world Portuguese aesthetics. The couple has incorporated a lot of greenery in the corners of the luxurious heritage home. The haven is surrounded by stretching lush views and sunlit spaces that scream calm and peace together. Maria Goretti, in an Instagram post, mentioned how much she loves her dining space.

Black and white hues, vintage mirrors and carved wood

The black-and-white rooms of Casa Zen are painted in white and black hues, giving them a monochrome, elegant touch of “zen” energy. Carved wooden columns and vintage-style mirrors add an old-world look to the heritage villa, with touches of colonial warmth. A double-height bedroom with dramatic vaulted wooden rafters and a cane-backed seating bench reflects comfort blended with art.

The Blue Room a timeless appeal

The Blue Room was designed to satisfy the soul and heart of someone who loves everything classic and vintage. Most of the rooms are decked up with wooden furniture, which brings a traditional feel. The colonial heritage style, paired with boutique comfort, fills the spaces, making them seem simple, intimate, and inviting. The crisp white bed linen with delicate blue motifs states the underlying blue touch in a subtle way.

Earthy hues with comfort

The living rooms are soft on the eyes, with their earth-toned, warm ochre colours creating an immediate rustic Goan mood. The room is adorned with a large, comfy L-shaped sofa that welcomes one with the comfort needed on a lazy summer afternoon. It also has a bookshelf, "a boon for book lovers", that signals a personal, lived-in space, making the room feel more informal and welcoming.

Azulejo motifs

The 18th-century property is well-maintained and preserved by the couple, and still carries the Portuguese legacy in its architecture. Above each and every doorway, one can find beautifully hand-drawn Azulejo motifs.

Poolside serenity

The villa has a pool area with greenery-filled spaces that create a little jungle escape whenever an individual needs one. It is an embodiment of the couple's love, as most of the spaces in the villa reflect warmth, created through their nurturing with immense care and affection. This luxury sanctuary is available for renting. Staying in a property like this will bring any traveler closer to a slower, softer side of Goa.
