Symphony of Lights Cruise aboard the Aqua Luna

Aqua Luna is one of the last remaining traditional Chinese junk boats created using age old designs and conventional materials. You can choose to cruise at just about sunset time or wait till the sun completely sets, to enjoy the “Symphony of Lights” show – where all the famous landmark towers that form the Hong Kong skyline are lit with colored lights, laser beams, searchlights; and synchronized to music that celebrates the energy, spirit and diversity of Hong Kong.

Nan Lian Garden

Nan Lian Garden is an absolute delight. Built on the lines of the Tang Dynasty, this beautifully manicured Japanese Garden will soothe your soul. You will forget this piece of tranquility is right in the middle of a chaotic city and surrounded by skyscrapers! It is a perfect balance of green nature and colourful structures. Some paths are dotted with sprinklers to spray mist onto the path, giving the whole place an ethereal feel. Also situated within the same complex and surrounded by beautiful bonsais and lily ponds is the Chin Lin Nunnery, a large temple complex with incredible architecture.

Choi Hung Estate

In Chinese, “Choi Hung” means a rainbow and this estate was built in 1964, making it one of the oldest public housing estates in Hong Kong. Choi Hung Estate has become an overnight internet sensation due to its flamboyantly colourful apartment buildings. And to get the picture perfect instagram angle, enter the estate and after turning left, look for a multi-level car park. Atop this car park is an equally colorful basketball court that is frequented by tourists for the perfect Instagram shot. Remember this place can be crowded so the best time to visit it is on a weekday at around 9 am. Don’t forget to wear colourful clothing so that you stand out in the frame.

Ngong Ping 360 Degrees

Book yourself on the Crystal Cabin that provides a bird's eye view of Hong Kong’s often overlooked outdoors. Take the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car from Tung Chung to the Ngong Ping Village to enjoy breathtaking views of Lantau Island and the glittering South China Sea. In the approximate 25 minute journey, you will see the Big Buddha, seated atop a wreath of lotus petals, surrounded by lush green forests, dotted with trekking paths. You will also see beaches that boast wide stretches of golden sand and turquoise waters, which stretch to the horizon, dotted with ships of all sizes. You can also catch a glimpse of the airport and the Hong Kong–Zhuhai Bridge, the longest sea bridge – tunnel system in the world.

Trams of Hong Kong

Called ‘Ding Ding’ by the locals, trams are used as one of the most preferred means of transport in Hong Kong. It is the largest double-deck tram fleet in the world, counting more than 160 tramcars and carrying more than two lakh passengers a day. Trams are not as fast as compared to other modes of transport, but it is the best way to explore the city. The trams pass through some of the most beautiful spots in the city such as Cause Bay, Wan Chai and Western District; but the best tram journey in Hong Kong is taking the Peak Tram to Victoria Peak, which incidentally is the steepest funicular railway in the world.
