5 Indian summer vegetables you can grow in a pot at home

Due to the increasing temperature in India during the summer, people think that the season is not conducive to gardening. However, summers are the most appropriate time to cultivate different types of vegetables in pots at home. This option suits people who do not have much space in their gardens. There are various vegetables that can be cultivated during the summer season. In particular, you can grow these vegetables in pots in a balcony or terrace. Hence, here are five Indian summer vegetables which are very convenient to grow in pots at home.

2/6

Tomatoes to be cooked in everyday dishes

One of the most common vegetables grown by Indians is the tomato. This plant is ideal to grow during summer because they thrive when the temperature is high. They can be planted in pots ranging from medium to large sizes, depending on your convenience. The only requirements needed are sunlight, proper watering, and some support when growing.

3/6

Ladyfinger (okra) is easy to maintain

Another vegetable that can be grown successfully by any beginner is ladyfinger. These plants grow fast during summer and are also not difficult to maintain. Lady fingers can be planted in large deep pots, provided they receive plenty of sunlight throughout the day. Water them regularly and give them fertilizer once in a while.

4/6

Green chillies for compact space

Green chillies are the best vegetables to be grown in pots, which are very compact. They do not occupy much space as compared to other types of plants, and they are also not difficult to look after. Make sure to plant green chillies in pots that have sufficient drainage capability. Provide sunlight and adequate watering.

5/6

Spinach can be harvested immediately

Spinach is one of the quickest-growing leafy vegetables that can be cultivated easily in pots. Spinach does not require pots that are very deep but requires partial to full sunlight. If provided with proper watering and nutrition, they will start producing within a week after planting. It is an extremely healthy food.

6/6

Brinjal can be produced steadily

Brinjal is another summer vegetable that grows well in pots. It requires slightly larger containers and good sunlight exposure. With proper watering and fertilisation, the plant produces a steady yield of vegetables. Brinjal plants are relatively easy to maintain and add variety to your homegrown produce. Fresh brinjals from your garden can enhance the taste of your dishes.
