Quit these foods to lose weight

If you are working out hard and eating salads and fruits, but still eating some ‘empty calorie’ foods, then you may not be able to lose weight despite all your efforts. Empty calorie foods are those which either do not contain any nutrients or the calories from sugar and fats in these foods outweighs the nutrients found in them.

Empty calories can provide immediate energy, but cannot be used to build muscle, supply vitamins or promote a sense of fullness. Empty calories not used for energy will be stored in your body as fat. Here are foods you should avoid as they can be a disaster for your waistline.
2/6

Fast-food french fries

Fresh fries are loved by all – whether kids or adults. However, these simply salty tidbits can wreak havoc on your body. These are heavily processed, don't contain any fiber, and are loaded with salt. Their cooking method makes them highly inflammatory and their salt-and-oil combo makes it easy for you to overeat them.

3/6

Soft drinks and energy drinks

Delicious and ‘refreshing’ soft drinks, energy drinks and sports drinks are loaded with sugar and lack any nutrients. These empty-calorie beverages spike your blood sugar, causing an energy high followed by a crash. Further, these high calorie liquids do not satiate your hunger like food, so your brain still signals that you need to eat.

4/6

Bakery items

All the chocolatey, jam-stuffed, creamy and powdered sugar coated cookies, pastries, donuts, and cakes are high on sugar, salt, refined flour, and saturated fat. These ingredients can cause inflammation, which makes gaining more weight easier than losing what you are already carrying.

5/6

Alcohol

Alcohol is high in calories and accelerates hunger cravings. Alcohol contains around seven calories a gram, which is almost as high as pure fat. Further, there is no nutritional value in alcohol and it makes your body shut your metabolism to detoxify the alcohol. Many alcoholic drinks, especially cocktails, are also high in sugar.

6/6

Processed meats

Meats like ham, sausage, hot dogs, and bacon are loaded with saturated fat which clogs arteries and creates inflammation in the body. This can lead to weight loss resistance. Nitrates are also usually present in these meats, which can cause DNA damage, leading to further inflammation in the body.
