Weight loss story: This is how a 22-year-old student went from 133kgs to 52kgs in just 11 months without going to a gym
Here’s Hiba’s journey, told in her own words.
I still remember the day I stepped on the scale and saw 133.3 kg staring back at me. It wasn’t just a number; it was a reality check. I felt exhausted even with the simplest movements, and life didn’t feel like mine anymore. At that moment, I realised I needed to change. Not for appearances, not for anyone else, but to save my health and future. That day, I promised myself I would bring back the real me.
What I really ate: My everyday meals
Many believe weight loss comes from starving the body. That’s not true. I didn’t skip meals; I changed what was on my plate.
- Breakfast was three eggs made into an omelette with vegetables, a small quarter loaf of bran bread, and sometimes coffee, tea, or just water, but never sugar.
- Lunch was balanced: a small portion of rice, pasta, or bread, some protein like chicken or eggs, and a large helping of vegetables or salad. I always added a piece of fruit.
- Dinner was light, mostly Tunisian soup or a salad with an egg. I kept it simple, less oil, less salt.
The truth is, food wasn’t my enemy. Once I learned balance and portion control, everything changed.
No gym, just walking: My simple workout
People generally assume that losing weight requires heavy workouts or expensive gym memberships. For me, that wasn’t possible. I couldn’t afford the gym, so I walked, as much as I could, whenever I could.
Walking became my therapy. Step by step, it reminded me that consistency matters more than fancy equipment. Staying active daily, even in small ways, helped me burn calories, clear my head, and stay connected to my goal.
The hardest part and what kept me going
The most painful part of being overweight wasn’t just the physical struggle, it was emotional. I couldn’t wear the clothes I dreamed of, mirrors became a reminder of what I wanted to change, and I worried about my health constantly. It felt like being trapped inside my own body.
But I stayed motivated by thinking of one goal: travelling to India. That dream carried me through tough days. Each step, each healthy choice, brought me closer to it.

The lessons I carry forever
This journey taught me that real transformation is not just about diet or exercise, it’s about mindset.
I learned discipline in small, daily choices. I discovered strength on days I wanted to give up. And above all, I learned to love myself enough to keep going. Every setback became a lesson. Every small victory was worth celebrating.
Weight loss is not punishment. It’s an act of respect for the body and life given to me. Today, I live healthier, lighter, and freer, not just in body, but in spirit.
Hiba’s story proves that sustainable weight loss is possible with balanced eating, consistency in movement, and a strong mindset. It isn’t about shortcuts or extreme diets, it’s about daily discipline and believing in the process.
