When Ranjeet Mohite reached 108 kgs, he found it extremely challenging and decided to do something about it. Initially, the progress was significant, but gradually he stopped losing weight all of a sudden. Slowly, he realised the importance of being patient and determined. He stuck to his routine, ate healthy and eventually lost a whopping 34 kgs. Here’s his weight loss story:

Name: Ranjeet Mohite

Occupation: HR Consultant

Age: 38yrs

Height: 5 feet 7 inches

City: Pune

Highest weight recorded: 108 kgs

Weight lost: 34 kgs

Duration it took me to lose weight: 8-9 months

2/7

The turning point

Weighing 108 kgs was not very appealing to me. I faced a lot of challenges and due to my work, I couldn’t even manage time for my workout. Even after I began my weight loss journey, there were many roadblocks. I lost around 4 kgs in the first month itself and then it suddenly stopped. My weight did not drop and was stagnant. However, I kept going, which eventually helped me achieve my goal.

3/7

Diet followed

My breakfast: Upma/oats and 2 egg whites.

My lunch: 2 rotis, sabzi and a handful of sprouts.

My dinner: 1 bowl of soup or dal, grilled chicken breast and a portion of green salad.

Pre-workout meal: 1 banana and black coffee without sugar.

Post- workout meal: 3 egg whites or/and 1 scoop whey.

I indulge in (What you eat on your cheat days): Chicken biryani or any rice dishes in the afternoon. Love eating sweets, so I eat gulab jamun once in a while or dark chocolate (that is after I had achieved my weight loss target and not during the weight loss journey.)

Low-calorie recipes I swear by: Makhana chivda, green moong dal dosa.

4/7

Workout regime

I indulged in 45 minutes to an hour of weight training 5 times a week. Apart from that, I did cardio for a day in a week. I believe taking some time off from your workout routine is key, so I rest for at least a day.

5/7

Fitness secrets I unveiled

Ensure that you make your own diet plan and do not follow anyone else’s diet. Everybody is different. You will have to figure out what works best for you.

How do I stay motivated?: I keep looking at my before and after pictures.

How do you ensure you don’t lose focus?: I keep setting/changing my targets. For instance, after losing weight, I set a target to put on muscle mass. This way, I am enthusiastic about the future and look forward to achieving new heights.

6/7

What’s the most difficult part of being overweight?

For me, being overweight brought along many challenges. It was as though I was carrying one extra person on my body 24*7.

What was the lowest point for you?: I went through a lot of pain due to D3 and B12 deficiency. It was difficult to maintain a balance between my work and exercise routine, so change was the only constant for me.

What shape do you see yourself 10 years down the line?: I aspire to be like Milind Soman.

7/7

What are the lifestyle changes you made?

- I have made a routine which involves eating 5 meals a day. I try to eat at the same time everyday.

- I keep a balance of my caloric intake.

- I don’t normally skip my workout.

Lessons learnt from weight loss: It is tough to lose weight, but it is tougher to maintain it at a certain level.
