Weight loss story: “I lost 20 kilos by including soya chunks in my diet and doing cardio 4-5 times a week”

How this young man lost 20 kgs in 5-6 months!

Zala Nirbhay, a BCA college student, was extremely unhappy with his weight. Being overweight took a toll on his stamina, made him feel less energetic and always tired. However, once he decided to get his fitness levels on track, he never looked back. According to him, consistency is the key. With the right diet and exercise, he eventually lost 20kgs in just a matter of months. Here’s his inspiring journey.

The turning point

After I started my weight loss journey, became more consistent in my daily fitness routine, and could see some changes in my body, I was extremely motivated to continue. For me, this was a turning point.

Diet followed

My breakfast: Sprouted black chana

My lunch: Any type of dal, rotis, rice, buttermilk

My dinner: Rotis, milk, if you're able to then add paneer, soya chunks

Pre-workout meal: Sweet potato/coffee/whole grain bread with nut butter

Post- workout meal: Soya chunks, any seasonal fruit

I indulge in (What you eat on your cheat days): I like to eat my favorite food but in medium quantity. You can eat whatever you want but in small quantities.

Low-calorie recipes I swear by: Roasted peanuts for snacks, soya chunks for high protein.

Workout regime

I indulged in cardio 4-5 times a week, did full body exercise everyday. This included: mountain climbers, jumping jacks, squats, burpees, crunches, leg raise, flutter kicks, Russian twist.

Fitness secrets I unveiled: Don't be sad if you don't see any results in some days. Stay consistent and you will definitely reach your goals.

How do I stay motivated?

I always stopped to think what the reason behind why I started my weight loss journey was. That kept me motivated. The same thing helps me stay on track and never lose my focus.

What’s the most difficult part of being overweight?

According to me, when you're overweight, your stamina also becomes very low, which is why you cannot run, cannot be physically active and you feel very tired.

Secondly, it's difficult to find the right clothes for your body.

Thirdly, you feel demotivated all the time

What shape do you see yourself 10 years down the line?: A fit, muscular body
