Here's his inspiring weight loss journey

Shreyas Pingale's love for junk food made him overweight and a victim of a sedentary lifestyle. While his family and friends always encouraged him to eat healthily, it was only when his weight crossed the 90-kilo mark that he realized the grave effects. He immediately decided to reverse his lifestyle, started following a good diet and worked out daily.

Name: Shreyas Nandkumar Pingale

Occupation: Student

Age: 20 years

Height: 6.2 inches

City: Panvel, Maharashtra

Highest weight recorded: 90 kilos

Weight lost: 10 kilos

Duration it took me to lose weight: 3 months

2/7

The turning point

Once I started college, my junk food obsession grew and I started to eat more street food, to the point my weight crossed the 90-kilo mark. My parents and friends were always telling me to lose weight and exercise but of course, nobody realizes it at first. This bad eating cycle continued for a few months, and it was only then did I realize the damage I had exposed myself to. This was the realization that made me focus on getting fitter and transforming myself. I started to work out every single day and followed Intermittent Fasting to lose weight.

3/7

Diet followed

My breakfast: Regular ghar ka khana, usually 1-2 chapatis with vegetable curry. I also had a glass of milk on some days.

My lunch: I skipped lunch since I was following Intermittent Fasting.

My dinner: Regular rice and curry on most days.

Pre-workout meal: None as such, just water or fruits

Post-workout meal: Water, or black coffee.

Low-calorie recipes I swear by: Makhanas, bhel, chapati roll or fruit salad.

4/7

Workout and fitness regime

Well my workout style was pretty different. Instead of opting for the gym or heavy cardio, I used to play cricket for 1-2 hours every day since I loved to play. This became my routine and I still swear by it. I start my practice with a few stretches and warm-up moves.

Fitness secrets I unveiled: Your journey is not just about losing weight, but about getting, fitter and have a healthier lifestyle, which I have been trying to stick to for the longest time. Adopting this strategy has completely switched my focus, made me feel more confident and ensured that I do not just focus on fat loss.

5/7

How do you stay motivated?

I try to keep myself motivated by comparing my old physique, transformation photos with what I have now. It keeps my enthusiasm high and makes me so happy to see the results in front of me.

How do you ensure you don’t lose focus? Whenever I used to lose my grip, or felt like giving up, I used to think about the transformation and the efforts which went into reversing my lifestyle. Once you make these changes, you definitely would not want to let them go to waste.

What’s the most difficult part of being overweight? Definitely having lower self-esteem issues, and being anxious about the way I looked, or the lifestyle I led.

What shape do you see yourself 10 years down the line? I want to have a super-fit physique and have a healthy life.

6/7

What lifestyle changes did you make?

In addition to eating healthy, it is also important to eat the right amount. It is important to understand that losing weight is all about replacing your unhealthy cravings with the right food. I made fitness a part of my daily routine and also started drinking 4 litres of water every day.

What was the lowest point for you? Being constantly told by my family and friends to lose weight, the poor lifestyle I was leading, and the point that I didn't pay heed to any concerns at first. I should have listened to them and started working out from way before.

7/7

Lessons learnt from weight loss

The small steps you take to lose weight makes a drastic difference. We often underestimate the amount of time it will take to notice a certain amount of change in our body as nothing really happens overnight. Everyone has his own certain type of body; one must not compare it with others.
