Are you on a weight loss journey? If so, you’re probably always on the lookout for foods that are both nutritious and low in calories. As we all know
breakfast is an important meal of the day. Starting your day with something nutritious is crucial in the weight loss journey. But, what if we tell you that a simple
breakfast swap can help you lose five pounds in a month? Yes, that’s right. No its not a fleeting dream. It’s achievable and is something that does not compromise on the taste.
Professor Franklin Joseph, a leading specialist in weight management at Dr Frank’s Weight Loss Clinic told Mirror that one simple breakfast swap could make a big difference in your weight-loss efforts.
Dr. Joseph recommends replacing instant oatmeal with oat bran, a fiber-rich alternative that keeps you fuller for longer. He also notes that oat bran is one of the most underrated breakfast food. It contains significantly more protein and fiber compared to regular instant oatmeal, making it far superior for weight loss.

Oat bran, which is the outer layer of the oat grain has about 50% more protein and nearly double the fibre of instant oatmeal. This works like magic for someone who is trying to lose weight. It acts by working on satiety, and help to curb mid-morning cravings and prevent overeating throughout the day. Dr Joseph also explains that when his patients switch to oat bran, they naturally consume fewer calories without feeling deprived. This is because protein and fiber slow down digestion, stabilize blood sugar levels, and reduce the kind of cravings that can derail the weight loss process.
He further adds that this simple switch can lead to a weight loss of up to five pounds per month. A daily calorie deficit of just 500 calories can result in losing about a pound per week. This can lead to 5 pounds in over a month. The weight loss happens because replacing a lower-protein, lower-fiber breakfast with oat bran can naturally decrease the calories.
Beyond its weight-loss benefits, oat bran is packed with essential nutrients that support healthy digestion, and also help regulate blood sugar, and lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels.
