1 cup of oats contain 307 calories, 10.7 grams of protein and 8.1 grams of dietary fiber which makes it a wonderful food for those who are aiming to lose weight. Not only the nutritional composition, oats are easy to cook too.

They can pick up the taste of whatever flavor you add to it. So you can be creative in your culinary skills when you are including oats in your diet.

​Oats idli

Did you know that you can prepare delicious and yummy oats idli within 15 minutes?

Grab oats flour, baking powder, salt and curd. You can add grated vegetables to this batter to make it healthier.

Mix the oats flour with curd, baking powder, salt and prepare a thick batter. Add the vegetables to this. Now add this mixture to an idli maker and let it cook under steam for 10 minutes.

You can have this with chutney.

​Oats dosa


Have you tried oats dosa? It is easy to prepare.

Grind the oats and prepare flour. Add salt and water to this and bring the consistency to that of a dosa batter, neither too thick nor too thin.

Grease a dosa making pan and pour one ladle of the oats batter on to it. Cook it properly. Now you can either add the dosa masala to this or else have it plain.

​Oats pancakes​

To prepare oats pancake you need oats flour. Apart from this you need salt, butter, sugar, baking powder, berries and vanilla extract if you like.

To the oat flour add butter, salt, sugar, vanilla extract and mix them properly.

Now heat a pan and grease it with oil. Add one ladle of oat mixture to the pan and cook it evenly on both sides.

​Oats porridge​


This is a simple recipe for which you need oats, water, milk and sugar. This is delicious and can be bettered by adding chopped fruits and nuts. It is good for both adults and kids.

Dry roast oats in a pan for 1-2 minutes. Then add water to this. After this you can add milk and sugar as per taste. A little bit, maybe a pinch of salt, can be better too. Let it cook for 5 minutes and then it is ready to serve.

​Oats upma​


Oats upma tastes similar to rawa upma.

For this you need oats, water, salt, turmeric, mustard seeds, chopped vegetables.

Roast the oats in a dry pan. Take it out of flame and add one tablespoon of oil to the pan. Add mustard seeds and let it pop. Now add chopped vegetables to this and let it cook for a while. Once the vegetables are cooked add the roasted oats to this and cook everything on a low flame. You can garnish this with coriander leaves.
