Weight loss: 5 healthy bathua recipes you should try this winter

​Bathua daal

Take one cup tur daal, soak it for sometime before cooking. Take one cup of chopped bathua leaves.

Cook the daal in a pressure cooker by adding water, salt and turmeric. Once the daal is cooked take a small pan, add some ghee and then add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, methi seeds and let it crackle properly. Now add chopped onions to this and wait for the onion to turn brown. Now add tomatoes and let it cook for a while. Add coriander seed powder, cumin powder and garam masala and cook it for a while.

Now add bathua to this, cook for sometime and then add daal to it.

Let it cook for sometime. Garnish it with coriander leaves.

​Bathua raita

Take fresh curd in a bowl.

Take bathua leaves, cook it properly and blend it till it is smooth. Now add this to curd and mix it properly.

The best part is to add the tadka. In a small pan take some oil, add some cumin seeds and wait for it to crackle. Optionally you can add red chilli to this.

Now add the entire thing to the curd and mix it properly. To this mixture you can add black pepper powder and chaat masala if you want.

​Bathua Bhujia

For bathua bhujia you need chopped bathua leaves, hing, cumin, green chilli, turmeric powder, and salt.

Take a small kadai and add one tablespoon of mustard oil. Add cumin seed, hing to this. Add bathua leaves to this and cook it on low flame. Be careful with the salt and add small amount of it.

Add half cup of water and cover it to cook.

Once done, add butter to this and eat it hot.

​Bathua paratha

For bathua paratha, take wheat flour, add tablespoon of oil or ghee to this, add chopped bathua leaves to this and knead it properly.

Roll it out like a regular roti and cook it with ghee.

Alternatively, you can cook the bathua leaves first, blend it to a paste and then add it to the flour. You can add garlic, ginger to this.

You can add other green leaves like palak to this as well.

Bathua is a fantastic source of essential vitamins like A, B and C. It is also rich in iron, potassium, phosphorus, and calcium.

It is a great addition to your diet if you are planning to lose weight. It is because of the high water content it keeps the person full for a longer time.

It is also rich in fibre, another reason why you should add it to your food plate.

As per the USDA, 100 grams of bathua contains 43 calories.
