Mistakes you must avoid when trying to lose abdominal fat

Bulging belly is the most common problem among overweight and obese people. Although men and women both deal with the issue of bulging bellies, the former are more prone to it than the latter. In women, the fat usually accumulates in the hip area. For men, it is always the abdomen. Besides, the kind of fat deposited in the abdomen is more dangerous than those found in the other parts of the body. This kind of fat, also known as visceral fat, increases the risk of heart problems. What makes things complex is that burning fat from this area is not easy at all. It can become even more challenging if you are not making conscious choices. Here are five common mistakes people make when trying to lose belly fat.

2/6

Target weight loss

Target weight loss is a myth. You cannot lose weight in a specific area at one time. When you eat right and exercise, the body starts losing weight from different parts of the body. It is difficult to say from which part you will lose weight first or you can control it. Even if you perform exercises, targetting a specific area, there are minimal chances that you would lose weight from that area first.

3/6

Starving themselves

Starving for shedding kilos is the greatest mistake people make when trying to lose weight. Starving, in fact, leads to nutrient deficiency and weakness. Besides, it can be a reason for the accumulation of visceral fat. That's because when the body does not get enough nutrients required to function, it holds on to the fat, making it difficult for you to burn them. The ideal way is to eat timely and in the right quantity.

4/6

Poor lifestyle habits

Weight gain is not only the result of excessive eating or physical inactivity. These two are the essential factors, but other lifestyle factors play an equally important role. Smoking, excessive alcohol intake and poor sleeping habits can also contribute to fat accumulation in the mid-section. Even a high-stress level may sabotage your weight loss goals.

5/6

Not moving enough in the day

To lose weight effectively and easily, only working out once a day is not enough. You need to stay active throughout the day. The more active you are, the more quickly you will come to shape. Besides, if you have a sitting job, take care of your posture. Slouching can lead to fat accumulation in the abdomen.

6/6

Insufficient water intake

Sufficient intake of water in a day is essential for shedding kilos. Even if you fail to drink enough water in a day, you may end up eating more than usual. All the extra calories consumed during the day would accumulate in the mid-section, making you gain weight. Drinking enough water and other fluids in a day can help to manage your cravings and limit your daily calorie intake.
