Shehnaz Gill shares she has turmeric water and ACV on waking up; calls weight loss a tough journey

S​taying slim is hard for everyone!

Punjabi queen of hearts Shehnaaz Gill is known for her quirky personality and adorable looks. The singer and actor also became a talk of the town after shedding lots of weight during the COVID pandemic. The 'Tuada Kutta Tommy' star recently appeared on the Varun Sharma-hosted show, Bingo! Comedy Adda Season 2. When Varun asked Shehnaaz about her transformation process, she talked about how difficult it is to stay slim.

​"Pet nikal jata hai"

Despite controlling her diet for the entire week, Shehnaaz said that all her efforts are ruined if she eats a little extra on her cheat day.

She told Varun, “Bol bol ke thak chuki, nazar lag gayi hai. Hafta bhar control karti hun and uske baad khaati hun to bhi pet nikal jata hai, body sath nai deti." Adding that a single vada pav is enough to add to her muffin top, she said, "Sab kehte hai Punjab mein jake mote hote hai, mera to Mumbai me bhi vada pav kha ke pet nikal aata hai.”

​What inspired her to lose weight?

On her appearance on Shilpa Shetty’s fitness show ‘Shape on You’, Shehnaaz spilled the beans on what inspired her to shed the extra weight she had been carrying.

She shared, “By the time I finished Bigg Boss, the lockdown had started. So, in the lockdown, I thought, ‘Why not do something new?’ so that when people see me, they will be like, ‘Is that Shehnaaz?'”

​Portion control can do wonders

The actor-singer revealed that there was no crazy diet or vigorous exercise that helped her lose weight. It was all by managing portion control and eating home cooked, healthy food.

Revealing her daily diet, she explained, “It wasn’t like I did something different in my diet. I consumed the same diet but reduced my portion size. After waking up, I drink tea and turmeric water. Now I start my day by drinking apple cider vinegar water. For breakfast, I sometimes eat green grams, dosa or a fenugreek paratha. I consume a high-protein breakfast. My 70 per cent focus has been towards my diet”

​Drinks lots of water

Increasing your water intake can be helpful for weight loss. It has zero calories, hydrates your body to function efficiently and also helps to suppress appetite. Hydrating yourself enough drains out toxins out of your body. Shehnaaz shared, “I drink a lot of water. To make the water tasty, I add strawberries and cucumber to it and drink it all day. It is also very important for your skin.”

​Staying active is also important

Many people believe they cannot lose weight without going to the gym daily. However, successfully losing weight during the COVID lockdown, Shehnaaz feels one can easily lose weight by staying active at home. “You can lose weight effectively even while staying at home. If you aren’t allowed to go outside, then walk around in the house,” she said.
