Eat chicken and still lose weight!

If you want to lose weight then there is no need to eliminate chicken from your diet. In fact, chicken can help you lose weight. It is packed with protein, low on carbs and low in calories, provided you do not fry it or pair it with cheese or other high calorie foods. Here are some healthy and delicious chicken recipes, perfect for your weight loss diet.

Chicken tikka

  • Ingredients of chicken tikka:

    750 gms boneless chicken
    1 tsp salt
    2 tsp ginger garlic paste
    2 tbsp lemon juice
    3 tbsp hung yogurt
    4 tbsp mustard oil
    1 tbsp tandoori masala
    3 tsp kashmiri red chilli powder
    1/4 tsp turmeric powder
    1/2 tsp garam masala powder
    1/2 tsp black pepper powder
    1 onion and 1 capsicum

How to make chicken tikka

Wash the boneless chicken, pat it dry and slice it into bite-sized chunks. For the marinade, take a large bowl and mix yogurt, lemon juice, garlic ginger paste, salt, garam masala, red chilli powder, black pepper powder, and turmeric. Add mustard oil, gram flour and tandoori masala and mix once again. Coat the mixture well on the chicken pieces. Cover the bowl and refrigerate overnight.

Cut the onion and capsicum into cubes and let them marinate in the chicken mixture for 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Thread the marinated chicken in the skewers along with onion and capsicum. Line the skewers on a foil lined baking tray. Grill for 10-12 minutes. Rotate the skewers and grill for another 10-12 minutes. Serve topped with lemon juice.

Low-fat butter chicken

  • Ingredients of low fat butter chicken:

    400 gms chicken chunks, sliced
    4 large onions
    2 cinnamon sticks, 4 cloves and 2 bay leaves
    1 tbsp garlic paste
    2 cardamom
    5-6 large red tomatoes
    salt to taste
    1/2 tsp red chilli
    1/2 tsp coriander powder
    1/4 tsp turmeric powder
    3-4 green chillies
    fresh coriander leaves
    1/4 cup yogurt
    2 tsp oil

How to make low fat butter chicken

Take a pan and put 2 tsp oil. Now, add onion cut in long slices, cinnamon, bay leaves, cardamom, and garlic paste. Saute till the onion becomes brown. Once done, let the onions cool down and then blend them with chopped tomatoes and yogurt into a smooth paste.

Saute chicken in the leftover oil in the same pan. When the chicken is almost done, add the paste and cook. Add red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and green chillies slit from the middle and de-seeded. Finally let chicken cook until the oil starts separating. Garnish it with coriander leaves before serving.

Low-fat chicken shawarma

  • Ingredients of low fat chicken shawarma:

    500 gram chicken, sliced
    1 1/2 cup yogurt
    1 tbsp garlic paste
    1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
    Salt as per taste
    a pinch of pepper powder
    1/2 tsp paprika
    2 lemons (juiced)
    Pita bread
    1 tomato, 1 onion and 2 green chillies
    Fresh parsley

How to make low fat chicken shawarma

Marinate chicken slices in yogurt, garlic paste and all the spices. Let it marinate for at least 4 hours. Fry the chicken on a pan. Take a pita bread and add the cooked chicken along with chopped tomato, sliced onion, green chillies, parsley and hung curd. Make a firm roll and serve.
