Bengaluru woman reduces 56 kilos; shares diet, workout plan: Here's her little secret to weight loss
"3.5 years of consistency can do wonders! I was at 126.5 kgs in Oct 2021, and now at 69.7kgs( checked 2 days back). Down by more than 56 KGS!! Started with simple and stuck to it. Consistently putting in exercise, choosing strength training and weightlifting with cardio and good nutrition. Would love to write more about the journey or help anyone if they are struggling. Have struggled with weight and obesity all my life," Rutvi posted on social media.
Her diet plan included making food fun and debunking myths
While it is a difficult task to be consistent in a weight loss routine, Rutvi has shared her experience and the strategy she followed to keep her diet interesting and fun.
"1. Always remember that ONCE in a while you can have a CHEAT DAY. It should be something damn so good that you really enjoy it eating thoroughly. Maybe plan when you wanna have a cheat day. This is is important for sustainable health journey. No one can eat salads for lifelong
2. Make salads fun - try new recipes. Enjoy the cooking and be experimental.
3. A simple hack, you wanna have pizza, just have a bowl of green salad (no creamy dressings) before it. Reduces GI.
4. Play around with recipes - eggs can be made healthier in multiple ways. Just adding some seasonings also makes it fun.
5. Try NOT to keep as many snacking options at home. If they are not accessible, somehow we tend to consume less."
She also busts a myth around protein. "Blunders I did while being on weight loss! Singular focus on Macros. Especially Protein! Protein! Protein!!! Everywhere you read or came across, everyone was trying to maximize protein intake. It’s a really GREAT advice, although it’s half baked. Protein is GREAT, but with it there are other essential nutrients that should not take a backstage. Fiber and micronutrients that help with bodily functions. Because I didn’t focus on it, I started having issues with digestion, dry skin, and even brain fog or felt less in energy. I didn’t realize until I did a blood test to realize the gaps I had. Don’t make such blunders with your diet! Protein is GREAT, make sure the other nutrients don’t fall behind," she has posted on X.
A balanced diet and regular exercise are the twin pillars of healthy weight loss
While diet controls calorie intake and ensures your body gets essential nutrients, exercise helps burn calories, boosts metabolism, and preserves muscle mass. Eating whole foods—like fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains—reduces cravings and keeps you fuller longer. Meanwhile, a mix of cardio and strength training improves fat loss and overall fitness. Together, they create a sustainable calorie deficit without extreme restrictions. Beyond the scale, they also improve mood, energy, sleep, and long-term health—making weight loss more effective, enjoyable, and lasting.Comments (2)
