Anatomy of unwanted hair

“If you are a woman, you have to be beautiful!” Isn’t it amazing how easily this phrase rolls off, without even considering how much it can offend others? Instead of a mere adjective, the word ‘beautiful’ has become a false dichotomy. Let’s face it, despite all the opinions; a woman is obligated to take care of certain things, and taking care of unusual face growth is one of them. Here, we are discussing several reasons responsible for this unwanted facial hair.
2/6

Hormonal imbalance

Certain medical conditions can cause excess production of male hormones in women, and this condition is called hirsutism. The hormonal imbalance, which can lead to facial growth is polycystic ovarian syndrome or PCOS.
3/6

Genetic or racial

One can be more prone to facial hair growth if it runs in the family. Also, women who belong to Indian sub-continent, Mediterranean countries are more likely to have unwanted facial hair growth. If these are the two reasons of your facial hair, then just learn how to manage as there is nothing much you can do about it.
4/6

Growth of androgens

Another cause of facial hair is the growth of androgens. The hair that appears on the face is basically due to the presence of androgens. And when there is an excessive hair growth on a woman’s face, it is because of the high level of androgens in her body. Hence, when androgen level is normal, the hair growth is also minimal.
5/6

Medication

There are certain medications that are responsible for excess facial hair growth. Also, medicines that treat health conditions and diseases like seizures, high blood pressure, headaches, migraines etc. contributes to facial hair growth. Some of the medications that are responsible for facial hair are cyclosporine, testosterone, minoxidil, and certain types of steroids.
6/6

Birth control pills

Consuming birth control pills, which affect the androgen levels, can lead to excessive facial growth.
