Reasons why it hurts down there

Reasons why it hurts down there

Your vagina, despite being super sensitive, does some amazing things. It gives you immense pleasure during sex, expands to deliver a baby and cleans itself on its own. But there are times when it hurts like crazy, leaving you in dizzy. Without getting into the overthinking mode, let's explore reasons why it happens:
2/9

Stress

While this may sound absurd but a recent study in Sweden revealed that female genital pain and anxiety are corelated. This can include painful love-making too. Approximately one thousand women aged 18-35 were surveyed regarding genital pain and psychological analysis. The researchers established link between a stressful life and the recurrence of pain down under.
3/9

Yeast Infection

Yeast infections are very common and affect up to 70 per cent of women at some point in their lifetime. However, they are not always painful. The main symptoms of a vaginal yeast infection are itching, burning, discharge, and pain while urination or intercourse. Treatment involves using anti-fungal creams until symptoms subside.
4/9

Vaginal Dryness

Most women think this is only a problem for post-menopausal women, but that’s not true. It can be a problem at any age. Excessive vaginal dryness can cause pain. Vaginal oestrogen and vaginal moisturizers can be used to relieve pain.
5/9

Herpes

Herpes simplex virus, also known as HSV, is an infection that causes herpes. While there's no cure for herpes, your doctor can keep you on medication to reduce your frequency of outbreaks and help you manage pain. Risks factors for herpes include having multiple sex partners, having sexually transmitted infection (STI) and having a weakened immune system.
6/9

Rupture of Corpus Luteum Cyst

While it may sound very severe, the rupture of a corpus luteum cyst is not normally serious. A Corpus luteum cyst is a type of ovarian cyst, which may rupture around the time of menstruation, and take up to three months to disappear entirely. Sometimes they become swollen and can burst, and this can be painful. If you are pregnant or the pain lasts for more than a few days, you must consult a doctor.
7/9

Ingrown Hair

Ingrown hair irritates the skin. They can become itchy, and give you pain. Instead of trying tricks at home, it's best to consult a doctor to get rid of ingrown hair.
8/9

Your Partner’s Penis

Well, this might sound surprising, but yes this can be one of the reasons. A big penis can cause pain in your vagina. The best solution to avoid it is to go easy and calm while having intercourse and switch to positions that you find comfortable.
9/9

Pelvic Inflammatory Diseases

Pelvic inflammatory infection is caused in the female reproductive organs when the tissue of the womb or the uterine lining grows in other spots, causing inflammation and pain. One common symptom of the pelvic inflammatory disease is excessive bleeding during menstruation.
