Caution! These 6 foods in your kitchen increase the risk of cancer

CAUTION! THESE 6 FOODS IN YOUR KITCHEN INCREASE THE RISK OF CANCER: There are many risk factors that are responsible for causing cancer. Your lifestyle, family history, age, habits and certain health conditions are believed to increase its risk. But a major reason that is often missed is your eating habits. Several studies have been conducted that revealed how eating certain types of foods can increase the risk of cancer. According to a research, one of every 10 cancer occurrences can be prevented just by eating the right kind of food. So, what all types of foods you should avoid? Read on to know.

2/7

Hydrogenated oils

HYDROGENATED OILS: These oils contain trans fats. Hydrogenated oils, like vegetable oil, are considered the worst cooking oils by health experts. In fact, experts are of the opinion that there is no safe amount of hydrogenated oil that can be used. Hence, to reduce the risk of cancer, you must completely avoid hydrogenated oils.

3/7

Potato chips

POTATO CHIPS: Potato chips and even french fries can increase the risk of cancer. It is because of the reason that these types of junk foods are usually cooked in hydrogenated oils and contain high quantity of salt. Not only these foods increase the risk of high blood pressure and other serious health complications, they can increase the risk of cancer too. According to National Cancer Institute, french fries and potato chips contain acrylamide, a chemical that is found in cigarette smoke and industrial waste. Studies have shown that presence of this chemical increases the risk of cancer.

4/7

Processed meats

PROCESSED MEATS: Experts say that processed meat increases the risk of pancreatic cancer by 67 per cent. Avoid having processed meats and eat meats that are nitrate free.

5/7

Refined sugar

REFINED SUGAR: Refined sugar also increases the risk of cancer. Refined sugar is responsible for spiking insulin levels, which in turn contributes to the growth of cancer cells. Fructose, which is found in refined sugar, is a major cancer culprit as it contains caramel colour, which is a carcinogen. Avoid having refined sugars and look for healthy sweet options. You can consult an expert to know the variety of healthy sugar options.

6/7

Genetically-modified organisms (GMOs)

GENETICALLY MODIFIED ORGANISMS (GMOs): GMOs have been known to increase the growth of cancer cells. The chemicals that are used to grow certain types of fruits and vegetables are harmful for the body and could be responsible for rapid tumor growth. Avoid these foods and instead, eat organic farmed fruits and vegetables.

7/7

Farmed salmon

FARMED SALMON: Farmed salmon could also be responsible for increasing the risk of cancer-causing cells. A study done at the University of Albany stated that farmed salmon contains contaminants such as pesticides and antibiotics, which potentially can cause cancer. Instead of farmed salmon, eat its wild version to get essential nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids.
