When do penises start and stop growing?

When do penises grow?

For boys, penis growth begins during puberty, when they start to sexually mature. The typical age range for the start of puberty is between 9 and 14 years of age. This is just a generic age range and puberty can occur outside this for some people.

During puberty, penis growth begins typically at the average age of 12 in males. Again, this is just an average age and can vary based on person to person.

Testicle growth

Testicle growth is usually the first sign of puberty. It starts with changes in the scrotum. The skin of scrotum darkens, enlarges, and drops. The skin also thins and develops tiny bumps or hair follicles.

When do penises stop growing?

Penis grows in length first and then in girth. Similar to our height, penis growth happens in spurts and usually continues to the end of puberty. It lasts about five years and typically ends between the age range of 18 to 21 years.

Is there a "normal size"?

Penis growth, shape, and size vary greatly. There is no “normal” or “perfect” or “ideal” size. There is no need to be concerned about size, unless you are experiencing problems with standard functions such as urination or sexual intercourse, for which you should consult a urologist.

Can you increase your penis size?

There are medical and surgical interventions that may increase penis size. However, most of these come with several risks and complications. There is not enough scientific evidence for reputable organizations to provide guidelines or recommendations.

Further, there are no over-the-counter pills, supplements, creams, or exercises with enough scientific evidence to verify that they can actually increase penis size safely. Complications from these procedures can be risky and nothing should be attempted without proper medical prescription.

Does size matter?

Several studies have found that many men overestimate the average penis size which makes them self-conscious even of their average-size penis. There are many misconceptions around penis size that you should not care about. Penis size does not indicate how attractive your partner finds you or how well you perform sexually. The size of your penis is not a sign of your testosterone levels, masculinity, or reproduction ability. Your height does not indicate your penis size, it is an outdated perception with no scientific evidence.
