Telltale signs that you are moving less

Staying physically active is crucial for living a healthy and long life. Moderate exercising for 30-45 minutes every day and moving all day long can help you manage a healthy weight and reduce the risk of chronic diseases like diabetes, blood pressure, high cholesterol and kidney problems. These are some long term benefits of staying active which makes it worth getting up from your place and moving your body.

But there are chances that even after making a lot of effort you might not be able to stay active as much as you should. This can lead to some side effects that may interfere with your daily life. Here are some telltale signs that indicate that you should start moving more in a day.

2/11

Stiff joints

With age, joints and bones related problems intensify. The risk of osteoporosis and arthritis decreases the range of motion and also makes it difficult to perform daily activity with ease. Putting them to work will keep them in a working condition and will reduce stiffness. Staying active can also reduce the risk of developing bone-related problems.

3/11

Concentration issue

Poor lifestyle habits may also lead to concentration issues in many people. You may try hard and still won't be able to finish your work on time or lose interest in your task. Exercising can calm your mind and help to increase your focus and help you perform better in the given task.

4/11

Mood swings

Lack of physical activity has an impact on your physical as well as mental well-being. Sitting in one place all day long can be a reason for stress and anxiety. When you move or perform exercises like running or cardio, your adrenaline level increases. It helps to improve your mood and self-esteem.

5/11

Breathlessness

Cardio exercises like running, walking, jogging and swimming helps to increase your lung capacity. When you do not work out regularly the muscles of your lungs lose their strength and you feel tired even after performing some simple tasks like walking and climbing stairs. The less activity you will perform, the more breathless you will feel from time to time.

6/11

Constipation

When you move, your colon also moves with you. Moving makes it easier for the stool to move downwards. This helps in the easy and on-time passage of stool. Besides, having a toned body and chiselled abs also helps to move the waste from the stomach to the large intestine. Daily exercising can help you stay regular, especially in old age.

7/11

Back pain

Back pain is caused mainly due to weak core muscles or poor sitting posture. In both cases, exercising can help to provide relief from lower back pain. Regular exercising strengthens your core muscle which eventually helps to correct your posture and reduce back pain.

Hunger

To stay healthy and fit, we all must eat 2 square meals and 3 snacks a day. But if you feel hungry more than often then it is indeed a matter of concern. When you exercise regularly you will feel hungry. Exercise changes the levels of certain “hunger hormones” which makes you feel full. You will not have a craving for unhealthy and sweet foods.

10/11

Getting sick

If you often get sick it means you have a weak immune system. Moving more will boost your immune health and improve defence activity and metabolic health. It will cut down the chances of seasonal cold and flu and also reduce the risk of chronic diseases.

11/11

Sleeplessness

If you find it hard to fall asleep at night then start exercising. Exercising regularly makes your body tired and helps you fall asleep faster at night. A study published in the Advances in Preventive Medicine revealed that physical activity can improve sleep quality and efficiency. But try to exercise in the morning. Workout in the evening will keep your brain active at night making it harder to fall asleep.
