My COVID Story: "It’s not only the affected person who fights the virus but the whole family does"

My COVID Story: "It’s not only the affected person who fights the virus but the whole family does"
Himanshu Gupta caught COVID and immediately isolated himself. The care and love of his father, grandmother and mother helped him recover soon. Here is his COVID experience...
16 April 2021. Yes, this was the date I tested positive for Covid-19. But to be honest, it didn't really affect me much, reason for this is still unknown to me. Assumptions for this mindset could be anything; it could be my still early 20's carefree attitude that how could this happens to me or maybe my symptoms weren't that daunting.

It could be anything.
It all began a week before the date I tested positive. My father caught a mild fever accompanied by severe cough and a running nose. We all thought of it as a common illness which may be because of seasonal change or consumption of cold liquids. In my opinion we all think the same way without paying much heed initially.
But after a couple of days, suddenly in the evening I felt tired doing nothing and I just sort of ignored this fatigue. I shared this with my father casually, and he asked me to take some medicine after the dinner.
Then after the dinner I went to my bedroom and I could feel the fatigue was getting worse and after a while I was literally shivering out of nowhere. I couldn't even reach my bed trolley to get the medicine.
Somehow I managed to withstand that night and in the morning when I woke up, my grandmother caught a moderate fever. That was the time our minds started wondering in that direction. Yes, you guessed it right. Are we positive? We got ourselves tested and after a couple of days the results came. My father and grandmother were negative and I tested positive. If you ask me I was more than relieved to know that my father and grandmother were negative. But seeing my result there weren't any signs of relief on their faces.

I got myself isolated in my room on the 1st floor. Within an hour I got tons of calls from my father who was just below my floor assuring me that everything will be fine soon and reminding me of how strong I have been in tough times of my life and survived those serious injuries before in the past. It wasn't just a typical father thing who was saying all this stuff to just support me or pampering me. But rather it sounded as if he was continuously shouting that, “no matter what, I am there for you”.
My mother was out of town those days due to some emergency issues. Although my grandmother and father were negative, but they were still not 100% fit. My father used to get me all the meals in plates and ask me from the distance in an energetic tone, "Theeeek hai"? And crack a joke about something or the other. My mother used to call me several times for my health updates. My grandmother made sure that I am served with well cooked vegetables I like just so that it doesn't feel that I have been isolated.
I do got consolatory calls from my friends and relatives but as they say the calls were only "consolatory" in nature.
After a few days there weren't any symptoms and after isolating myself for 14 days I could finally go downstairs. For me, it wasn't that difficult those 14 days as it appears to be. Maybe it was. I don't know. But the thing I want to share with you all is that it isn't the one person who is fighting with this virus, it is the whole family that is continuously fighting, struggling and making sure of that homely environment for the person who is sick so that it doesn't affect him or her at all.
These times are difficult but it's your attitude what you make out of it. It can break you, frustrate you and in some cases other thoughts also but what really matters is there is a family who has got your back that is continuously supporting you, doing every bit so that you don't feel lonely and never letting you get those 'he is Covid Positive' vibes.
