Kim Kardashian’s new scan reveals 'low brain activity' after aneurysm diagnosis: What that means
Kim Kardashian has found that she has 'low brain activity' during a new scan. This comes shortly after her recent aneurysm diagnosis sent shockwaves through fans.
In the latest episode of The Kardashians, aired on Nov. 27, Kardashian, 45, learned that the front region of her brain “is less active than it should be.”
During season 7, episode 6, Kardashian received a scan alongside Scott Disick. “Scott and I are both going to look at our brains today with Dr Daniel Amen. He does these brain scans to see how your brain health is really looking,” she said.
The celebrity doctor is a household name and previously scanned Khloé Kardashian’s and Kendall Jenner’s brains in 2022. Dr Amen said that the low activity could be prompted by chronic stress as she prepared to take the California bar exam in July 2025.
The scan revealed that she had ‘holes’ in her brain scan, which indicated ‘low activity’, according to the doctor.
“The front part of your brain is less active than it should be,” Dr Amen said.
“With your frontal lobes, as they work now, it would be harder to manage stress, and that’s not good for you, especially as you’re studying and you’re getting ready to take the boards,” the doctor told Kardashian.
“That just can’t be. It just can’t. I’m not accepting that. I’ve got to get on a plan to really figure this out because I have (expletive) to do this summer,” she said.
Despite these findings, Dr Amen confirmed that there is no elevated risk for Alzheimer’s disease. The doctor added that she is “not terribly stressed, not anxious, and not depressed”.
“You are extraordinary in being positive,” Dr Amen said.
“I have a beautiful brain. I’ve heard that before,” the fashion mogul replied.
The aneurysm discovery
The brain scan comes weeks after Kardashian revealed her aneurysm diagnosis. During the Nov. 20 episode of her reality show, she revealed that doctors had found an aneurysm in her brain.
“There’s like a little aneurysm,” Kim Kardashian told her family.
“I did a Prenuvo scan, and they called me today, and they’re like, ‘Everything looks great. But you have an aneurysm in your brain,’” she said. “They’re like, ‘It’s been there for years. It was here a few years ago.’”
A brain aneurysm is a swelling in a blood vessel in the brain, according to the National Health Service (NHS). About 1 out of every 50 people has an unruptured brain aneurysm, according to Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Many are unaware due to the absence of symptoms. Each year, around 30,000 Americans experience a ruptured brain aneurysm.
