When the cholesterol level is higher than 200 mg/dL it is said to be high enough for the body

High cholesterol is a silent killer. It has no symptoms, it does not affect the body initially and unfortunately, by the time one sees the symptoms in a pronounced manner, the damage has already happened to a large extent. It is therefore extremely important to monitor the cholesterol level so that its progress is checked early. Read the article to find the mild signs of high cholesterol which many assume to be something less serious.

2/7

Heaviness in the legs

Feeling heavy in the legs due to extreme pain might be an indication to check the cholesterol level. This is also seen in the thighs or calves. The pain increases during walking, even if it is the regular distance that the person has been walking before or for a small distance.

3/7

Frequent cramps

Recurrent episodes of cramps or spasms in the lower limbs, especially in the heel, and toes is commonly seen in those who have high cholesterol. This happens due to the damaging arteries. The spasms occur mostly at night and as a home remedy, people are advised to keep their feet dangling from the bed or from any higher position.

4/7

Unexplained cold feet

We experience cold feet when the weather is chilly, but if you are getting cold feet without any reason your cholesterol might be responsible for it. Do not ignore this sign and get your blood tested as soon as possible.

5/7

Change in skin color

Due to clogged arteries, blood flow is restricted to certain parts of the body. Often the effect is seen in the lower limbs. Change in the color of the skin due to less blood supply happens due to high cholesterol. Do not ignore any change in the color of the skin.

6/7

Delay in wound healing

If you notice that there is a delay in the healing of a wound that has occurred in your limbs it is a sign of poor blood circulation which might be because of high cholesterol levels. Though there can be other reasons as well, including diabetes, a blood test can reveal the right condition.

7/7

The bottomline

These symptoms are too subtle to be noticed. The intensity of the pain inflicted by these signs are assumed to be minor and hence one does not feel the need to have a blood test done. However, these are the initial signs that the cholesterol level has crossed its normal threshold. Any abnormality in the body should be dealt with medical treatment.
