Heart attack: Vikram Kirloskar, Toyota India vice-chairman, dies of massive heart attack

Toyota Kirloskar Motor vice chairperson Vikram Kirloskar, one of India's leading businessmen, has passed away. As per reports, the automotive industry stalwart suffered a massive heart attack late Tuesday. Kirloskar is credited with getting Japanese auto giant Toyota to India.

Kirloskar was declared dead after hectic efforts to revive him did not yield results, according to reports.

“We are extremely saddened to inform the untimely demise of Vikram S. Kirloskar, vice chairman, Toyota Kirloskar Motor. At this time of grief, we request everyone to pray that his soul rest in peace. We extend our deepest sympathies to his family and friends,” Toyota Kirloskar Motors, a joint venture between Toyota and the Kirloskar family, said in a statement.


Kirloskar is survived by his wife, Geetanjali Kirloskar, and daughter Manasi Kirloskar. He used to enjoy cooking for his wife and appreciated good food and wine. He also loved traveling and playing golf with his wife. Manasi Kirloskar is married to Noel Tata’s son Neville.

Other eminent personalities who passed from heart complications

More than 90 percent of sudden natural deaths result from heart-related diseases. In the recent past, several Indian eminent personalities and celebrities have passed away after suffering from heart attack or cardiac arrest. A heart attack is when one of the coronary arteries becomes blocked. A cardiac arrest happens when a person's heart stops pumping blood around their body. Sudden cardiac death could be a manifestation of underlying heart disease.


Most recently, Indian television actor Siddhaanth Vir Surryavanshi, 46, died on November 11, after he suffered a heart attack while working out at the gym. Comedian Raju Srivastav also suffered a massive cardiac arrest while on the treadmill on August 10. He passed away on September 21.

Famed singer KK also passed away in May due to heat-related ailments. KK reportedly felt unwell while performing at a concert at Nazrul Manch in Kolkata. Authorities confirmed that the initial autopsy had revealed that KK’s cause of death was from heart failure.

Other celebrities who left people shocked from untimely demise include South Indian actor Puneeth Rajkumar, who died in October 2021 from a fatal cardiac arrest. TV heartthrob Sidharth Shukla passed away due to heart attack in September 2021, leaving his fans in shock and grief.
