Has China decoded Zika virus?

Chinese scientists claim they have decoded imported Zika genes
China has claimed that its scientists have successfully decoded the gene sequence of imported Zika virus. As per the Chinese health ministry website, scientists have successfully decoded genes that make up for the Zika virus.

In unearthing the gene code of the virus that currently hovers as a big threat over the Rio games as well as the rest of the world, scientists have used the genome from the first imported case of Zika in the country.

Reportedly, China had confirmed its first imported Zika case around ninth of February this year when a Chinese national had returned after visiting South America. China has reported ten cases of Zika so far.

If the Chinese scientists are to be believed, the Zika gene decoding might prove as a milestone in the war against the virus.

Several cases of Microcephaly and Guillain Barre syndrome have been reported around the world and there are many studies that have hinted at the correlation between the two and Zika virus.

The decoding will further help scientists develop vaccination, bacteria and other measures helpful in eradicating Zika.
