I don’t believe in synthetic protein supplements: Actor Gaurav Khanna
Being a vegetarian and getting the daily dose of protein for a fit body isn’t a myth. Gaurav Khanna aka Anuj Kapadia from Anupamaa, who is a fitness freak and a vegetarian now, says he has been rigorously working out to maintain his physique since his college days. On Protein Day, the actor talks about fitness and diet. “Exercising on a regular basis is a part of my life. For maintaining a chiseled physique, diet plays a vital role, especially the right amount of protein intake. I was a non-vegetarian initially, but for the past five years I have turned vegetarian,” he says.
‘I’m not a person who believes in dieting for maintaining fitness’
Gaurav’s biggest protein sources are almonds, Greek yoghurt, quinoa and chickpea salad, cottage cheese steak, soy milk among other protein-rich dishes. He says, “I have always been very focused when it comes to my diet. I am not a person who believes in dieting for maintaining my body. I make sure that I have a proper breakfast, lunch and dinner. All the three meals are very important for maintaining a proper physique. Even when I am on shoots, I ensure that my diet is balanced and have a combination of protein, fibre and vitamins.”
‘I have multiple sources of protein in a vegetarian diet’
Talking about his protein intake, Gaurav says, “Synthetic protein supplements are not for me. I have never consumed protein supplements and neither would I recommend it to anyone. When I have multiple sources of protein available in a vegetarian diet then why should I go in for synthetic protein supplements.”
