Doctor shares inside of the liver of a man who drank alcohol on "weekends only"; the pictures will shock you
Doctors always warn against alcohol consumption. Even the World Health Organisation (WHO) advises not to drink even a drop of alcohol.
Dr Cyriac Abby Philips, popularly known as “The Liver Doc” on the internet, has shared the images of the inside of the liver of a 32 year old man who drank only on weekends.
"Hello. Just wanted to show the inside of the liver of a 32 year old, "weekends only" alcohol drinking man, and the healthy donor liver of his wife, that he received, that will help him survive to see their little daughter grow up," the doctor has posted on X (formerly Twitter) sharing the pictures of the man's liver and his wife's unhealthy liver.
"Alcohol is a poison. Period. Your liver works overtime to process it, and when you binge—even if it’s "just on weekends"—you’re overwhelming it. Over time, this leads to fatty liver, fibrosis, cirrhosis, and eventually liver failure.
And guess what? By the time you feel the symptoms, it’s already too late. This man didn’t just wake up one day with a failing liver. He spent years slowly killing it, one drink at a time, while probably telling himself, "It’s not that bad."," one user has posted.
"Curious. How many drinks a week can do that much damage? Can Just 2 drinks a day on the weekend do that? Or do individuals respond differently?," writes another.
"He must have been completing weekdays quota in weekends. So this is the result of it," writes a third one.

Excessive alcohol consumption can severely harm human health, affecting both the body and mind. It damages the liver, leading to conditions like fatty liver, hepatitis, and cirrhosis, while increasing the risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, and stroke. Alcohol impairs brain function, causing memory loss, poor judgment, and long-term cognitive decline. It weakens the immune system, making the body more vulnerable to infections. Prolonged use heightens the likelihood of developing cancers of the liver, mouth, throat, and breast. Additionally, alcohol disrupts mental health, contributing to anxiety, depression, and addiction. Moderation or abstinence is key to preventing these life-threatening consequences.

Netizens can't keep calm
Many people have found it difficult to believe the huge impact drinking only on weekends can have on the body. "Maybe he was eating too much mutton. It’s not alcohol but the mutton that harmed his liver. Hope u asked him to change his diet rather than focusing on weekend drinking," writes one user."Curious. No amount of alcohol is safe for human health
"Alcohol is a toxic, psychoactive, and dependence-producing substance and has been classified as a Group 1 carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer decades ago – this is the highest risk group, which also includes asbestos, radiation and tobacco. Alcohol causes at least seven types of cancer, including the most common cancer types, such as bowel cancer and female breast cancer. Ethanol (alcohol) causes cancer through biological mechanisms as the compound breaks down in the body, which means that any beverage containing alcohol, regardless of its price and quality, poses a risk of developing cancer," the WHO has said.Read the tweet here:
