Doctor reveals simple kitchen fix to flush microplastics out of your body, and it works
Microplastics are everywhere — in your food, air, water, and even inside your body. Yes, that’s right. These microplastics are not supposed to exist in nature, let alone in our bodies. So, how do we steer clear of these harmful microplastics? The answer may be simpler than you think — and it’s likely already sitting in your kitchen.
In a video shared on Instagram, Dr William Li, a world-renowned physician, explains how one can flush microplastics from the body. “Microplastics are showing up everywhere — from bottled water to sea salt. But new research suggests your body may have a natural way to defend itself — with the help of dietary fibre,” the doctor said.
According to Dr Li, one way to flush these toxins out of your body is to eat more fibre. Yes, that’s right. “We’ve long known that fibre keeps your digestion regular, supports healthy cholesterol, and feeds beneficial gut bacteria that reduce inflammation. Now, researchers from Henan University in China have discovered that fibre may also help the body flush out microplastics,” the doctor said.
Fibre also provides barrier protection. It strengthens the gut lining, making it harder for microplastics to slip through. Fibre also provides microbiome support: it nourishes the healthy gut bacteria, helping calm inflammation triggered by microplastics. “In short, fibre blocks, removes, and protects — all at once,” the doctor said.
The doctor also emphasised the importance of staying hydrated. “Fibre works best when there’s enough water to move things smoothly through your system,” he said.
Your diet truly plays a crucial role in how your body performs. “Every meal is a chance to strengthen your body’s defences — and even protect it from the hidden particles in the modern world,” the doctor reminded.

How to flush microplastics from the body?
Microplastics are hiding in your body, and the numerous ways they could impact health and well-being are still being studied. A recent study published in the journal Human Reproduction, discovered microplastics in human reproductive fluids. Even the scientists were shocked that they appeared in almost every person they tested. “Previous studies had already shown that microplastics can be found in various human organs. As a result, we weren’t entirely surprised to find microplastics in fluids of the human reproductive system, but we were struck by how common they were — found in 69% of the women and 55% of the men we studied,” the researcher said.According to Dr Li, one way to flush these toxins out of your body is to eat more fibre. How fibre helps to flush microplastics
Fibre helps to remove microplastics from the body. But how? By binding. “Fibre can latch onto microplastics in your gut and prevent them from being absorbed into your bloodstream,” the doctor said.Fibre also provides barrier protection.
How to add fibre to your diet?
Dr Li recommended eating a wide variety of fibre-rich plant foods such as fruits, vegetables, mushrooms, legumes, whole grains, nuts, and seeds. “Add soluble fibre like oats, flaxseeds, lentils, and apples — especially effective at binding toxins,” he said. The doctor also emphasised the importance of staying hydrated. “Fibre works best when there’s enough water to move things smoothly through your system,” he said.
