Whistleblower claims COVID-19 pandemic was a lab leak
The Wuhan Institute of Virology in China, a high security lab specializing in Coronaviruses, has long been tipped by many as the origin point of the Coronavirus pandemic that has claimed the lives of around 6,646,172 people worldwide.
Many of those who survived continue to struggle from lingering health problems, as well as other mental, financial, emotional struggles.
China and the Wuhan Institute of Virology have denied any such allegations that claim they were behind the leak. However, a whistleblower has claimed it all started from a leak from the same lab, wreaking havoc across the world.
Claims on link between China and US
In his book ‘The Truth About Wuhan’, Dr Andrew Huff, former vice president of EcoHealth Alliance, claims that at the root of the COVID-19 pandemic was dangerous genetic engineering of Coronaviruses in China, funded by the US government.
EcoHealth Alliance is a US-based non-governmental organization for scientific research. Speaking to The Sun, Dr Huff claimed that EcoHealth Alliance had been studying different Coronaviruses in bats for more than ten years. They received funding from the National Institutes of Health and had also developed close working ties with the Wuhan lab in China.
Whistleblower says Coronavirus was a 'genetically engineered agent'
Dr Huff said the EcoHealth Alliance taught the Wuhan lab the "best existing methods to engineer bat coronaviruses to attack other species”.
He claimed that "China knew from day one that this was a genetically engineered agent."
"The US government is to blame for the transfer of dangerous biotechnology to the Chinese. I was terrified by what I saw. We were just handing them bioweapon technology," Dr Huff added.
How the lab leak reportedly happen
In an extract from his book, Dr Huff says the leak happened from lack of proper control measures.
He said, “EcoHealth Alliance and foreign laboratories did not have the adequate control measures in place for ensuring proper biosafety, biosecurity, and risk management, ultimately resulting in the lab leak at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.”
No claim for 'deliberate' release of Coronavirus
Unlike some other circulating claims and allegations, Dr Huff does not believe, and has seen no evidence that China deliberately released the virus.
However, he says, “Nobody should be surprised that the Chinese lied about the outbreak of SARS-CoV-2 and then went to extraordinary lengths to make it appear as if the disease naturally emerged,” adding, “The shocking part of all of this is how the United States government lied to all of us."

Research papers on lab evolution of the virus
Scientists were also warned that COVID-19 could have evolved in laboratory animals, but shut down the theory in a paper. As per reports, they were also warned that the Wuhan Institute of Virology had been carrying out research on bat-coronaviruses with worrying levels of biosecurity. However, when the concerned paper was published, all reference to biosecurity issues in Wuhan had been removed.
