16/17

Side effects of cloves

Cloves might be tiny, but they pack a serious punch—and not always in a good way. Having too many can upset your stomach, trigger heartburn, or even thin your blood (so not ideal if you’re on meds like warfarin). Some people get mouth irritation or allergies when chewing cloves directly, and clove oil? Super strong—too much can actually damage your liver. Pregnant or breastfeeding? Best to skip the heavy clove use. A sprinkle in food is usually fine (and tasty!), but overdoing it or popping supplements without guidance can definitely backfire. Like most spices—moderation is key! So, don't overdo. (Image: Canva)
