Can one be allergic to electricity? Read on
Electronic gadgets are a convenient aspect of daily life for a large number of people. You can use them to accomplish things like microwave meals and browse the internet. However, some people think they have an allergy to the radiation that comes from gadgets. We refer to this apprehensive state as electromagnetic hypersensitivity, or EHS. It is believed that in the middle of the 1900s, the first reports of EHS were made. The old Soviet Union claimed that EHS, also referred to as "microwave syndrome," was experienced by military and radar personnel who worked with radios.
In 1991, the term "electromagnetic hypersensitivity" was coined. Since then, a lot more people have claimed to have EHS, particularly as the use of electronics has increased.
It occurs when an individual perceives themselves as having heightened electromagnetic field (EMF) sensitivity. Electronic machines such as computers, microwave ovens, Wi-Fi routers, and other household gadgets emit electromagnetic fields (EMFs), which are commonly referred to as radiation.
The kind and severity of the alleged EHS symptoms vary, and they are generic. They could consist of:
headaches
lightheadedness
tingling
skin conditions
Pain in the musculoskeletal system
sleep problems
mood problems
lightheadedness
memory problems
difficulty focusing
having a heated face
In the medical community, EHS is not recognized as a disease despite these reports. Research has not been able to establish a clear clinical link between EMFs and the illnesses that have been described. Furthermore, there are no objective standards for diagnosing EHS.
EHS is a self-reported illness that has not been scientifically validated. It is characterized by uncomfortable symptoms brought on by exposure to electronics, such as pain and headaches.
There isn't any proof yet that there is a connection between EMFs and the alleged symptoms of EHS. Furthermore, solid data on how EMFs could result in these symptoms is lacking. Researchers investigated 28 blinded experimental trials that looked at the relationships between EMFs and symptoms of Ehstein syndrome in a review published in 2019. They examined the advantages and disadvantages of every study as well as the accuracy of the data.
