Breathe like never before: 6 foods that are believed to supercharge the lungs

Lungs benefit from some foods that contribute to their improved function, vitality, reduce body inflammation, and enhance overall respiratory wellness. Whether the goal is to create endurance, bounce back from being sick, or simply breathe a bit easier-these six foods can make the difference between better and worse.

2/9

Walnuts

Walnuts are a rich source of magnesium, an electrolyte essential in keeping our muscle condition in our lungs healthy. Walnuts are one of the richest plant sources of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), an omega-3 fatty acid which are anti-inflammatory in nature and are known to enhance the internal lining of our lung tissue.

3/9

Beets

Beets or beetroot contain dietary nitrates that the body can metabolize as nitric oxide molecules to serve to lower blood pressure and enhance the delivery of oxygen to the body. It is not only good for cardiovascular system health but also for effective lung functioning, particularly during exercise. Beets possess antioxidants in the shape of betalains that fight oxidative pressure in the lungs

4/9

Turmeric

Turmeric has curcumin, which is a well-known anti-inflammatory naturally occurring compound. Curcumin itself is not an anti-lung disease medication, but it is said to manage the inflammation of the airways and soothe the immune system. It is extremely mild and works best with a pinch of black pepper. It works smoothly when taken with warm water in the morning.

5/9

Apples

Apples also contain plenty of quercetin, a flavonoid with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory action. Certain observational studies that followed individuals for years have associated daily consumption of apples with enhanced lung function, decreased risk of asthma and COPD. They're not a magic bullet, but they're tasty and provides our lungs the extra safeguard they need for

naturally supporting overall respiratory strength and vitality.

6/9

Red bell peppers

Vitamin C is a prevalent component of immune function and might produce a protective effect against damage to lung tissue by environmental stimuli such as cigarette smoke and air pollutants. Red peppers have more vitamin C per serving than oranges. It also has beta-carotene, which the body converts to vitamin A, which itself is responsible for the optimal functioning of the lining of the lung.

7/9

Blueberries

Because of their anthocyanin content, blueberries are arguably the densest antioxidant fruit to consume. These compounds combat oxidative stress, and such is particularly pertinent to lung function in aging and exposure to outdoor air pollutants. A number of observational studies have associated increased blueberry consumption with impaired lung function among the elderly and the young.
