Apple watch saves elderly's life by detecting heart issue; viral post proves how technology is a blessing for seniors
Another instance of the co-existence of technology and human beings has come to the fore. An old woman was saved because of the Apple watch she was wearing. The post has now gone viral on social media.
"My Apple Watch Series 10 detected my grandmother’s atrial fibrillation today using the ECG feature. She’s now at the hospital and receiving the care she needs. I still can’t believe it," Nikias Molina posted on X, on Wednesday.
One of the key benefits of the Apple Watch’s ECG feature is its ability to detect signs of atrial fibrillation (AFib), a serious heart condition that can lead to stroke. The watch notifies users if it detects any irregular rhythms, allowing them to seek medical attention before complications arise. This makes it a valuable tool for early detection and prevention.
The ECG feature is also FDA-cleared, providing a level of reliability and trust for users. While it is not meant to replace professional medical devices, it offers an accessible way for users to monitor their heart health on a daily basis. For older adults or those with known heart issues, the Apple Watch ECG feature can be a useful complement to traditional care.
Technology has revolutionized healthcare by improving diagnosis, treatment, and patient care. Innovations like wearable devices, telemedicine, and health apps allow real-time monitoring of vital signs, enabling early detection of health issues. Advanced technologies such as AI and machine learning assist in analyzing medical data for faster and more accurate diagnoses. Digital health records streamline patient information, while telehealth offers remote consultations, improving access to care.
Tech in healthcare is a blessing for seniors
Technology in healthcare is a blessing for seniors, enhancing access to care and improving quality of life. Wearable devices like smartwatches monitor vital signs, detect falls, and track heart health, allowing early intervention. Telemedicine enables seniors to consult doctors remotely, reducing the need for travel. Medication reminders and health apps help manage chronic conditions, while assistive devices improve mobility and independence. AI-driven diagnostics provide faster, more accurate results, aiding timely treatment. These technologies promote preventive care, safety, and better management of aging-related health issues, empowering seniors to lead healthier, more independent lives. In this context, a reliable organisation also plays a crucial role. Organisations like ASLI or Association of Senior Living India work to improve the quality of life of seniors and elderly population.
