AI imagines what it would look like to be a new mom in Delhi in 2060, and it is scary!

Are you a Delhiite? Ever thought of what your city would look like three decades from now, given that the air quality is already in ruins? As it is unpleasant for us to imagine, artificial intelligence has got the job done, and what you are about to read will leave a chill down your spine!

POV: You woke as a new mom in 2060 New Delhi

You see the hazy city from the glass window. Next to the window is your baby lying in a futuristic incubator. The first thing you notice is the silence, eerily quiet, and the streets are barely visible through the thick haze that seems to have infiltrated every corner of the city. This video was shared on an Instagram by a user.

You buy air insurance

Shortly, the doctor arrives in a hazmat suit and talks to your baby daddy about the air insurance plan. The air insurance is as follows: Basic (20 years), Urban Premium (35 years), Luxe Bio-air (60+ years). Your husband buys a child one of the above clean air insurance plans.

You hold your baby for the first time

The baby is wrapped in a high-tech oxygen suit immediately after birth. On the back screen, you can see your indoor oxygen level. The oxygen is rationed and shows '4 hours' left. You and your husband take your baby home. The child is safely placed in the car in a pod. The Air Quality Index outside is 2879, which is lethal, and so you and your husband are wearing oxygen masks.

Air insurance

Your surf through the air insurance policies available. It's evening, and the baby is enjoying the view, which includes a drone flying, people in futuristic suits walking on the streets, which arehazy. That’s your way of finding lighter moments in this haunting and dystopian world!

This future is not far

Though this is an AI-imagine possible future, it's not really that distant. The fictional video reflects present-day concerns. From smog-filled mornings to rising respiratory illnesses in children, Delhi is already showing signs of the crisis to come. If no actions are taken, buying air insurance could become a reality in a matter of years.
Meanwhile, Delhi turned out to be more polluted in April this year, compared to previous. An analysis of Central Pollution Control Board's data, shows nine poor days recorded till April 16 this year, against only seven such days in the entire month in 2024.
Out of the 16 days so far, Delhi has faced seven moderate and nine poor air quality days, with a stretch of five consecutive poor days from April 6 to 10. However, rain and strong winds on the evening of April 10 helped improve the air quality for a few days. No days with good or satisfactory air quality have been recorded in April so far.
