6 warning signs of hormonal imbalance seen in men

Human beings have an innate tendency to ignore what their body is trying to tell them, which often results in listening to doctors' advice only when the situation becomes critical. Even though exceptions do exist, the majority would say, “It’s just a headache; it’ll be okay if I take rest.” Sometimes, it is beyond just taking rest. Sometimes, it might be happening because the hormones in your body are not functioning in a balanced way — the way they should be working.Hormonal imbalances in the male body differ from those in the female body. While the negligence is the same in both genders, men have a higher tendency to explain away their body changes as a result of the physical work they do.
Here are 6 signs of hormonal imbalance seen in men that need medical consultation without any delay.

2/7

Losing weight suddenly

Spending time in the gym is one of the favourite tasks for many, but if one loses weight rapidly without changes in their diet or exercise routine and can’t identify any other illness, this can be a potential sign of hormonal imbalance.
Hormones such as thyroid hormones, insulin, and cortisol regulate metabolism and how the body uses energy. When these hormones are abnormally high or low, the body may either burn calories too quickly (as in hyperthyroidism). If the thyroid gland starts producing too much thyroid hormone, this excess amount of hormone will speed up the metabolism, leading to rapid weight loss.

3/7

Feeling too anxious or depressed

There’s a trend going on all over social media that women experience mood swings during their menstrual cycle. When that is absolutely true, the other gender also can’t be overlooked entirely. Feeling irritated, anxious, or even depressed can happen to men also because of the hormonal imbalance that their bodies may face. Low levels of testosterone or issues with thyroid hormones can disrupt neurotransmitter function in the brain, affecting mood, motivation, and emotional stability. Excessive release of the stress hormone, cortisol, can disrupt the mood as well.

4/7

Losing interest in physical interaction

Men often choose to avoid the discussion because of shyness, or don’t take it that seriously if they experience a noticeable decrease in sexual interest or satisfaction. If it’s sudden or can not be explained by relationship or external factors, maybe it is happening because of hormonal changes. Testosterone is the primary male hormone and crucial for sexual desire in men. When levels drop due to hormonal imbalance from stress, aging, chronic illness, or pituitary problems, desire for sexual activity declines.

5/7

Exhausted all day

If one suddenly starts feeling exhausted almost all day long, even after waking up from sleep, the tiredness stays, or if you struggle even to do the normal regular tasks, it can happen because of hormonal imbalance. Low testosterone, thyroid disorders, or disrupted cortisol levels—can all make it difficult for your body to sustain energy production, leading to persistent tiredness.

6/7

Increased thirst and frequent urination

Going to the bathroom more often, especially at night, and feeling continuously thirsty even after drinking fluids is a classic symptom—especially it becomes more concerning if it happens with sudden weight changes. Elevated blood sugar due to insulin imbalances (often seen in diabetes) and some issues with the adrenal glands can affect your kidneys' ability to reabsorb water, leading to more frequent urination and thus increased thirst.

7/7

Difficulty sleeping

Facing trouble falling asleep even after a hectic day ? Or waking up with a drained feeling, or experiencing regular headaches that can’t be explained by other causes may suggest that your body is going through a potential hormonal imbalance.Hormones like melatonin regulate your sleep-wake cycle. Imbalances in melatonin, cortisol, or thyroid hormone can cause insomnia or poor-quality sleep.
