6 tips to protect eyes in Kumbh Mela 2025
This year's Kumbh has around eight ghats for bathing. Despite the administration's best attempts to keep all ghats clean, some areas may gather pollutants and grime due to the vast number of visitors. To safeguard your eyes, look for a cleaner ghat and take a dip in cleaner portions of the river, away from large crowds and floating garbage. If the water is murky or contains visible impurities, consider reducing eye exposure.
2. Use protective sunglasses
You can wear swimming goggles while having a bath in the holy river. This will help prevent contaminants from entering your eyes and protect them from polluted water and potential irritants. To avoid infections, those who wear contact lenses should remove them before the trip begins.
If you feel irritation in your eyes after bathing, do not rub them as it may increase the irritation or introduce bacteria in the eyes. Instead, rinse your eyes gently with clean, bottled water. If the itching or redness persists, consult an eye doctor immediately.
4. Use Lubricating Eye Drops
To prevent dryness and irritation following water exposure, use artificial tears without preservatives. For this, it is preferable to see an eye doctor rather than using over-the-counter eye drops.
5. Maintain Hand Hygiene
