Insomnia or sleeplessness is a disorder that is characterized by the inability to fall asleep or stay asleep for the desired amount of time. Insomnia can occur at any age but it is more common in elderly people. A study conducted by the Warwick Medical School looked at the quality of sleep of around 24,434 people aged 50 and above from eight rural global locations.

The results were that nearly 16.6 per cent of the population suffered from insomnia and other sleep disturbances. We know you insomniacs have tried everything from eye masks to yoga asanas and chamomile tea to sleep better. If nothing has helped, here we tell you something that will definitely help you sleep like a baby.

We are able to fall asleep only when we are not stressing ourselves out by trying to sleep. There are billions of quick beauty videos on the internet. And believe us watching these calming and beautiful videos can help you sleep.

​The boring history chapters

Sit down and recall which history chapters or essays made you sleepy in the class. Did you not feel someone is pulling your eyes to shut them down? Open one such chapter or essay on your phone and start reading it. Enjoy the sleep that comes with it.

​Calming rain music

The right ambience will make you feel relaxed and eventually make you fall asleep. Listen to some relaxing music on the internet before you sleep tonight. Or you can just play the music on low volume and close your eyes, you won’t even realise when you are fast asleep.

If you follow any particular podcast every day, start listening to it at night before you sleep. You can also listen to audio stories, which can have a calming effect on your mind.

​Revisit the childhood days

You can try listening to a lullaby or two. Lullaby is calming, soft and does not have the disturbance causing changes in its pitch that normal music has, which makes them your perfect friend when you are unable to sleep.
