5 early signs of Diabetes in men

Diabetes is a chronic, often irreversible health condition, in which either the pancreas does not produce enough insulin, or the body's cells don't respond to insulin effectively. There are 2 kinds of Diabetes, Type 1 and Type 2. In Type 1, the body's immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys insulin-producing cells in the pancreas, hence this condition is seen in a lot of children. In type 2 diabetes, the pancreas may still produce insulin, but the body's cells become resistant to its effects. Both men and women can get Diabetes, but their symptoms might slightly differ. Let's take a look at Diabetes symptoms in men...

2/6

Frequent urination and increased thirst

Diabetes often starts by causing people to urinate more frequently than usual, particularly during nighttime hours. When your blood contains high amounts of sugar, your kidneys need to work harder to remove this excess sugar, which leads to increased urine production. Your body becomes dehydrated because of this, which results in persistent thirst. Fluid consumption does not usually help, because your body remains unable to control sugar level equilibrium. You should not ignore the persistent need to drink water and urinate, because it could be a sign of diabetes.

3/6

Unexplained weight loss and fatigue

Your body starts burning fat and muscle tissue, when insulin levels are resistant, prevent it from properly using glucose for energy. This might result in sudden weight loss, even though your eating habits remain consistent, or you may even consume more than usual. Along with weight loss, your body will experience persistent fatigue and weakness. Fatigue occurs because your cells are not getting the energy they need. Diabetes often presents itself through a lack of energy that interferes with daily activities as well as mood regulation. The lack of energy makes everyday activities more challenging.

4/6

Erectile dysfunction and reduced libido

Men who develop diabetes, face higher risks of erectile dysfunction which makes it difficult to achieve or sustain erections. The high blood sugar levels cause nerve and blood vessel damage that controls erections. ED often shows up during the initial stages of diabetes before becoming the primary indicator men recognise. Testosterone levels in diabetes patients tend to reduce, which results in decreased sexual interest and libido. These signs of diabetes are rarely discussed, yet they indicate that diabetes affects body systems beyond blood sugar control. Let your doctor know about any sexual health changes right away when you first notice them.

5/6

Blurred vision and slow healing wounds

The excess sugar in your blood causes your eye lens to change shape, which results in temporary vision blurriness. High sugar levels in your body disrupts the fluid equilibrium of your eyes. You must consult the doctor, when you experience any vision changes or hazy eyesight. Diabetes patients typically experience delayed wound healing and longer recovery times for cuts and infections. This occurs because Diabetes damages both your immune response and blood circulation, thus making your body unable to repair itself effectively. Slow healing wounds increase the risk of infections and other complications. Regular eye and foot check-ups can help catch problems early.

6/6

Tingling or numbness in hands or feet

Diabetic neuropathy can cause nerve damage which serves as a common sign of diabetes. People with diabetes first experience tingling sensations followed by burning or numbness in their feet, and hands. Nerve symptoms tend to develop slowly, before worsening during nighttime hours. The small blood vessels that provide nerve supply, become damaged because of high blood sugar levels. You might experience sensory disturbances that resemble pins and needles sensation, or a feeling similar to losing sensation in your body. These symptoms indicate nerve damage from diabetes, so seek medical attention right away.
