5 cancers that are on the rise in younger people

In recent years, several studies suggest that certain types of cancers are on the rise in young people. From lifestyle changes to environmental influences, there are several factors that contribute to this alarming trend. According to the National Cancer Institute, in 2024, approximately 84,100 adolescents and young adults (AYAs) aged between 15 to 39 are expected to be diagnosed with cancer in the United States alone, which constitutes around 4.2% of all cancer cases. Some of the most common cancers in adolescents and young adults (ages 15–39) are breast cancer, testicular cancer, melanoma, cervical cancer, colorectal cancer, leukemia, and lymphoma, among others.
Early detection and preventive measures can play a crucial role in mitigating risks and finding a cure. Here is a list of some of the cancers, that are found prevalent in young people.

Melanoma is a form of skin cancer. In recent times, there has been a rise in this kind of cancer among young adults, particularly those with lighter skin. As it runs in families, Melanoma can occur at a younger age. The chances of curing melanoma are often high if it's detected and treated early. However, if left untreated, melanoma can grow and spread rapidly, making it much more difficult to treat.
