Do not continue...

Once you know that the condom has broken immediately let your partner know about it and stop the sexual activity.

If you do not want pregnancy now, it is better to move away from your partner the moment this barrier breaks.

2/6

Clean off the fluids

Go to the bathroom immediately and remove the fluids. Clean your vagina, penis and anus properly.

This is ideally a mandatory step after intercourse. It helps to remove the pathogens that might have a chance to enter your system and result in several infections like the urinary tract infection.

Unhappy with your sex life? These 5 reasons may be responsible for it

3/6

Do not panic

Many people panic and begin using several products to get rid of the sperms following a sexual activity.

This is not required.

Thoroughly cleansing the genitals is fine. Using products in these regions might cause irritation and inflammation.

4/6

Figure out your menstrual cycle

Your chances of getting pregnant relies entirely on where you are on your menstrual cycle. If your body is conducive for the sperm it is best to take an emergency contraception, the most common ones among which are the morning-after pills.

5/6

What causes condoms to break?

Using an expired condom, using it in the wrong way or reusing a used one, using a condom that was placed in a clumsy manner for example in a wallet for a long time, using a condom that was exposed to sunlight or high temperature, using a non-lubricated condom can put you in trouble.

6/6

Key points to note

Condoms are one of the most effective ways to avoid unwanted pregnancy. Therefore before, during and after sex one should be careful about condoms.

In order to avoid condom mishaps, one should buy good quality condoms, wear them properly, check the expiration date before using it and make sure it is the right size condom.

It is also advisable to store condoms properly. Unlike what many people do, condoms should not be stored inside the wallet where there is a higher chance of wear and tear.
