Elizabeth Hurley's diet and fitness secrets revealed!

Age is just a number right? Elizabeth Hurley, at 56 would agree! A model and actress who continues to create style statements and remain fashionably fabulous, Hurley has also maintained herself well. Remembered for her role in the show The Royals, the British actress and mother of a 17-year-old has also found herself new fans on social media, all thanks to her inspire-worthy fitness regime which makes her look like she is in her 20s. She made waves when she managed to fit into a dress she originally wore in 1994 and look just the same!

While the global icon follows no hard and fast rules, she surely does everything to support her fit and fabulous and not to forget, healthy lifestyle. If you are in the mood to switch up your regime or tone up a little, here are some rules to steal from her page! P.S.- no super long hours at the gym are needed to look like Hurley!

She doesn't prefer to go to the gym

If you have been a fan of Hurley's many selfies showing off her strong abs and toned stomach, we are going to let you in on a little secret- Elizabeth Hurley is not a gym person! In fact, while she genuinely admits to avoiding the gym when she can, she advocates the powers of found fitness, i.e. finds ways to stay fit in her everyday regime. In a recent interview, she quipped, "I don't really do any set exercise, per se, because I prefer to get my exercise from doing something than being in the gym." So, for Elizabeth, working out and building up a sweat through any of her regular chores is much more helpful than a gym machine or treadmill.


She also admits that she finds a way to stay physically active and burn calories, and workouts for an hour everyday, outside the gym.

Innovating with her workouts

A very big fan of morning workouts, Hurley's day literally begins by engaging in some form of exercise. As per sources, the model with the enviable long legs preps up her body and starts her day by literally performing some squats while she brushes her teeth or gets ready to start her day. Now that's some fitspiration! Hurley is also a fan of yoga and Pilates, and doesn't prioritize high-impact or sporty workout styles.


Since she's also a great fan of outdoor workouts and non-gym exercises, she gets her heart rate up and goes for a 20-minute walk with her dogs. Hurley also ensures that she gets in 10-12,000 steps in a day, no matter how busy or tough her schedules look like, or wherever an event she has to attend. She believes in staying active and walking every step of the way, quite literally. Let's not forget, walking is a great way to do some cardio and the easiest way to stay fit!

Gardening is her favourite way to sweat it out

Elizabeth, who's also a farmer, is a big believer in the power of getting outside and burning calories. For her, performing activities and housework such as cleaning and gardening are things which help her stay in shape and ditch the fat. Gardening, logging, walking, climbing up the stairs are also great examples of NEAT activities or 'Non-exercise activity thermogenesis', which expend energy when one's not actively working out. In one of her older interviews, she claimed,


"I do as much outside during the winter as I do during the summer, I'd rather do housework than go to the gym. I'd rather scrub a mirror—it does just as much. I believe in gentle exercise and lots of it." Without a doubt, if this little neat strategy can help Elizabeth, it can help all of us!

Never skipping breakfast

When it comes to her diet, while she believes in following a very healthy and conscious lifestyle, eating fresh, seasonal and organic produce, she never misses out on her breakfast. That's something everyone should follow. Even if you have a busy schedule, a good healthy, hearty breakfast can give you the right energy, balance sugar levels and keep you satiated. While the actress swears by having something for breakfast, she also prefers eating loads and loads of veggies throughout the day. Detoxifying and healthy at the same time.

Proper sleep is crucial

To look prim and proper like Hurley, also essential is beauty sleep. The model mentions that she's positively ageing, and believes in listening to her body's demands and getting the rest and the sleep that's essential. Despite the busy schedule and lifestyle which comes with being a celebrity, she never fails to get in 8-9 hours of uninterrupted sleep.
