Ever wondered how most of the movie stars manage to age gracefully? Some even look half their age? No, we are not talking about any of the cosmetic procedures or expensive skin treatments. Sure, some do turn to those options, and there’s nothing wrong with that (as long as it's their vision, and not about adhering to conventional beauty standards). But for many, the secret lies in something far more sustainable - how they live, move, eat, and sleep. Shilpa Shetty Kundra turns 50 today, and her age-defying looks are leaving the world in awe. Similarly, at 52, John Abraham is giving the youngsters in Bollywood a tough competition. John Abraham and Shilpa Shetty's fitness trainer, Vinod Channa, has finally revealed the secret behind reversing ageing. He has shared three easy eating habits to delay aging and get youthful skin. Let’s take a look. 1. Eat a well-balanced and nutritious diet Being healthy and youthful is really about the basics. Vinod Channa notes that the foundation of looking and feeling younger begins with a “well-balanced diet that provides your body with all the essential nutrients it needs.” The coach underlines that a balanced diet should include a combination of protein, carbohydrates, fiber, vitamins, minerals, and essential fats in every main meal.Protein for rejuvenationHelps repair and regenerate skin cellsMaintains muscle tone and a youthful complexionBest dietary sources include lean chicken, fish, legumes (beans, peas), ricotta and cottage cheese, low-fat milk and yogurt, soy milkCarbohydrates for energyFuel your body with complex carbs for lasting energySupports youthful vigor and daily staminaBest dietary sources he recommends include quinoa, oats, brown rice, barley, and buckwheatFiber, vitamins, and minerals for vitalityBoosts digestion, immunity, and skin healthKeeps you feeling and looking freshAdd leafy greens, red/orange vegetables (carrots, bell peppers), starchy veggies (sweet potato, corn), legumes, eggplant and zucchiniEssential fats for skin healthKeeps skin supple and nourishedSupports cellular health and hydrationDietary sources include fish, olive, canola, sunflower, soy, and corn oils, nuts and seedsFruits for a youthful glowPacked with antioxidants and skin-loving vitaminsFights signs of ageing and promotes radianceFruits like berries, apples, watermelon and muskmelon, papayas and bananas, and citrus are must-haves. Add seasonal fruits2. Avoid ageing triggers Channa warns against foods that accelerate aging, such as junk and empty-calorie items. “While indulging occasionally is okay, make it a rule to reduce their consumption to once every 10 to 15 days,” he says. These include refined flours and processed oils, which can cause inflammation and speed up aging. Sugary drinks and processed snacks also harm collagen and elastin, proteins essential for skin elasticity, leading to premature wrinkles. Another culprit is alcohol. Along with increasing the risk of serious illnesses, including cancer, alcohol dehydrates the skin and leads to fine lines. He emphasizes ditching ultra-processed food and instead, “opt for healthier cooking methods and choose whole, natural foods.” 3. Mindful eatingThe fitness coach explains that mindful eating is key to reversing age. “Being mindful of your eating habits is a game-changer when it comes to looking younger. It helps you become attuned to your body’s needs, prevents binge eating, and empowers you to make healthier food choices,” he shares in a post.
