This, say experts, could be attributed to a number of reasons. And reaching out for that cup of caffeine to perk you up isn’t the healthiest thing you could do for your health. - Start your day with a breakfast that is packed with proteins. This will ensure that you to concentrate and stay focused on your tasks. Milk, eggs, yogurt and soya are some protein-rich foods that should be a regular part of your diet.
- If you struggle to get out of bed each morning and the thought of exercising is enough to put you off, read this — exercising in the morning isn’t just a healthy start to the day — it will also ensure that you remain alert throughout the day.
- If you have the time, soak in some sunshine every morning. It doesn’t have to be for very long. Even 10 minutes in the morning sun is ideal. Alternatively, you could simply open up all your windows and let natural light to come in. Sunlight is essential for your body to make vitamin D, whose deficiency can cause a number of health problems, one being low energy levels.
- Take a power nap (if you can) in the afternoon. Even 15 minutes can do a world of good and improve your mental alertness as well as help your body unwind. Make sure you have a quiet place to yourself for those 15 minutes.

- Want to give your body a short workout? Run up and down the staircase to wake up your body from its mid-day slump or take a 10 minute brisk walk around your office building.
- Low energy levels could also be a result of dehydration so ensure that you drink adequate water throughout the day. Always keep a bottle handy and keep sipping every now and then.
- Have smaller meals throughout the day instead of three large meals a day. When you overeat, your body tends to slow down and make you feel sluggish. Munch on healthy snacks throughout the day so that you never feel the need to overeat.
