We often hear that carbs are not good for us and especially when we are trying to lose weight. But is it really true? Are carbs really bad and should be banned from our diet? Certainly not.
Nutritionist Anupama Menon who is also a food coach says there are a very few carbs that are bad for us. In fact, it's important for us to consume carbs to maintain the healthy functioning of the body. The main purpose of carbohydrates is to provide us with energy.
Grains (a type of carbs) are great for everyone and important for women's periods. Every person metabolises grain differently. A high carb diet might suit some perfectly, while others might not be able to digest too many carbs at once. There are two types of carbs:
Good carbsWhole grains, rice, millets, fruits, dals and vegetables.
Bad carbsThese are very few but are used widely in your cakes, white bread, pastries, pasta and more. Indulging in bad carbs once in a while is not a problem. It is recommended to stick to whole grains, dals, fruits and vegetables on a daily basis.
