We all like coffee! Well, MOST of us do. Some like it with less sugar, some with less milk and then there are those who like it without milk (and sugar)! But if you cringe at the sight of black coffee, and prefer to indulge in your Cafe Latte, Cappucino or Mochaccino, a new study may give you another reason to be wary of not just the black coffee but also those who drink it.
A new study conducted by the University of Innsbruck in Austria is making a rather extreme claim. The study says that people who like their coffee black are more likely to be psychopathic or sadistic.
The study surveyed 1000 adults on their coffee preference and also conducted personality tests based on prominent machiavellian personality types such as sadism, aggression and psychopathy.
Researchers found out a strange link between preference for bitter coffee and psychopathic personality traits. The study also figured how people who tend to have a more milky or sugary preference of coffee tend to have agreeable personality traits like kindness and sympathy.
Researchers went to the extent of claiming that this bitter food and psychopathic tendencies can become chronic and get serious over time.
So what does this study really mean? Well, not much yet. Most people who opt for black coffee these days are conscious about their health and sometimes they do it without even realising it. Bitter can be subjective and hence the conclusion may not be so accurate. Our culture and experiences also define our tastes and they can change over time.
Bottom line is do not use this study to define someone 'yet', but yes this could be instrumental in further study to determine patterns of personality and eating behaviour.
