Low crab vs low fat: Know the difference

Being inclined towards trying new diet options and experimenting with the already existing ones is understandable. It is common knowledge that while trying to lose weight it is imperative to cut on carbohydrates and unhealthy fats and increase protein intake so that muscle mass increases but fat decreases. Keeping this fact in mind, there are mainly two diets that people find themselves attracted towards- Low Fat diet or Low Carb diet. There is indeed no one specific diet that can help everyone because all of us have different body types and unique processes but if you still wish to try one of these diets, here is everything that you need to know about them:

2/6

Effective for short term

Both diets are effective in the short term. When you begin with the process of dieting, you cut on calories either by avoiding carbs or fat. In all, the calories consumption decreases which lead to a calorie deficit and hence weight loss. A low carb diet will however help you better because carbs hold onto water weight.

3/6

Higher the restrictions, the higher the chances of failure

If your diet is very restrictive, then losing weight initially would seem like a cakewalk. However, a restrictive diet is not sustainable and if your diet isn’t sustainable, it is most likely to fail in the long term because of feelings of boredom and deprivation that accompany the diet. Thus, having a sustainable and less restrictive diet is recommended.

4/6

Personalization

Since everybody body is different and every person has a unique way of functioning, the diets that each of us follows should suit us and our body’s needs while ensuring that it isn’t being deprived of any essential nutrients.

5/6

Different carbs/fats, different effects

All carbs or fats do not affect your body in the same way. Carbs in some foods are different from those in others and their effects on the body are likewise different. Similarly, with fats, unsaturated fats may damage and block arteries but saturated fats may act oppositely on your body. Make sure you prioritize healthy and sustainable eating habits instead of a short term weight loss oriented diet.

6/6

The optimal diet

Instead of choosing to cut an entire macronutrient group out of your diet, it is advisable to ascertain the good and bad elements of both groups. For carbs, cutting out on the unhealthy ones that promote weight gain and have adverse effects on the health would be beneficial and consuming the healthy ones at the same time.
