Diwali is almost here and everyone's get ting ready for the food and festivities. Your gym routine is going for a toss and the sight of mouth-watering sweets makes you forget all about your diet. Stop, or you'll soon have bulges that will take you months to get rid of. It is easy to take control of your life and yet not miss out on festivities by following these simple steps.
Eat in moderation: We aren't asking you to sulk in a corner while others are enjoying mithais.
Just eat in moderation and avoid second helpings.
Do not skip meals: Treat snacks as snacks, not as substitutes for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Do not miss out on your staples, veggies and fruits. Also, maintain a fixed time for food.
Choose wisely: For example, eating dry fruits over sweets might be a wise decision. Also, avoid fried sweets like gulab jamuns. Instead, ragullas are a better idea.
Skip sugar-loaded drinks: Opt for something light such as lemon water, coconut water, jaljeera, buttermilk, etc.
Eat fresh food instead of the stored variety: If you have a choice between eating freshly made mithai and the kind, choose the latter. Also, home-made sweets should be preferred to those made in stores.
Eat slowly: This way, you will be able to burn your food better, and also you will feel full on time, and not overeat.
Try to get some physical activity: Yes, we know you are low on time, but a half-hour walk can also kick-start your metabolism.
